5 Spooky Celebrity Ghost Sightings Including Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, and John Lennon
Some celebrities refuse to give up the spotlight.
Stars like Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, and John Lennon have lingered in the public eye long after their deaths. But according to some, they’re not just making their presence felt through their music and movies. Some believe that their spirits are still with us, haunting places that were important to them when they were alive. In honor of Halloween, let’s take a look at these five spooky celebrity ghost sightings.
Elvis
Alleged sightings of Elvis Presley have been a thing ever sing The King of Rock and Roll died in 1977 at age 42. He’s supposedly been spotted boarding planes to Buenos Aires and dining at a Burger King, among other unexpected activities — all cited as proof that he faked his own death. Others believes Elvis did die, but that his spirit still haunts his Memphis home, Graceland. Presley is also said to linger at the Westgate Las Vegas Resorts and Casino, where he performed his final shows in 1976.
Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe died in in 1962 at the age of 36. Since then, her ghost has been seen at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. Monroe lived at the hotel early in her career, and she now appears occasionally in a full-length mirror that was once hung in her room. And Monroe isn’t the only long-term celeb guest at the hotel. Actor Montgomery Clift is also said to haunt the Hollywood Roosevelt.
John Lennon
In 1980, John Lennon was murdered outside his New York City apartment building, The Dakota. Since then, people have reported sensing his presence around the building. But that’s not the only place the former Beatle has been felt. His bandmate Paul McCartney said Lennon’s ghost was around when the surviving band members reunited to record music together in the 1990s.
“There were a lot of strange goings-on in the studio — noises that shouldn’t have been there and equipment doing all manner of weird things,” McCartney said (via The Mirror). “There was just an overall feeling that John was around.”
Amy Winehouse
Singer Amy Winehouse died at 2011 at age 27. But her father, Mitch Winehouse, has said that he still feels his daughter’s presence.
“Her spirit comes and sits on the end of my bed. She just sits there and it looks just like her with her beautiful face and she looks at me,” he said in 2018 (via People). “I say to her, ‘Are you all right?’ because I get nervous with her being there. But it is comforting in a way to know she is here and around me.”
Lucille Ball
Unlike some people on this list, comic icon Lucille Ball didn’t die tragically young. The I Love Lucy star passed away in 1989 at age 77. Yet she apparently never vacated her Beverly Hills home. People have reported noticing broken windows and moving furniture around the house, in addition to seeing a figure resembling Ball appear in an upstairs window, per House Beautiful.
