Gone but not forgotten.

Scott Patterson’s Harry “Sully” Sullivan character was noticeably absent from Sullivan’s Crossing Season 4. The Gilmore Girls alum exited The CW show after season 3 amid rumors of creative conflict with showrunner Roma Roth. But with a major development for his daughter, Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan) in the season 4 finale, viewers are wondering if Sully might return for the show’s upcoming fifth season.

[Warning: This article contains spoilers for the Sullivan’s Crossing Season 4 finale.]

In the final episode of Sullivan’s Crossing Season 4, Maggie and Cal (Chad Michael Murray) took their romance to the next level. After navigating a complicated situation with her estranged husband, Liam (Marcus Rosner), Cal ended the season by asking Maggie to marry him.

With a wedding in the works, fans are curious whether Sully might make his way back from Ireland to see his daughter walk down the aisle. Murray says he’s not sure that will happen – or if the wedding will even take place in season 5. In an interview with Swooon, he predicted some more challenges ahead for Maggie and Cal before they get to “I do.”

“Will we get a wedding? My gut says probably not,” the One Tree Hill alum said. “I think we’ll get to the point of them getting ready for it. I don’t know … My gut says the wedding, we won’t get to. But we’ll probably find out that she’s pregnant before the wedding. So right before we’re about to walk down the aisle, she’s going to find out she’s pregnant or something, and have to tell Cal and then we’ll go to black.”

Will Scott Patterson return to ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’?

While Murray said that he was in the dark about Patterson’s future with the show, he predicted that Sully would return to the Crossing to see Maggie get married.

“I mean, whatever they have in the story … all those decisions happen to be above my pay grade,” he said. “But Sully’s a part of the Crossing. He will forever be that home-y feel of the Crossing. You would think that he would be back.”

Murray shared a similar sentiment back in March, stressing that Sully would always have a presence at the Crossing, even if he was physically somewhere else.

“He still exists in this world, and there’s still that relationship,” Murray told Yahoo! Canada. “And he built the Crossing, so it’s always going to be there, and that’s kind of the foundation that the show is built on.”

Sullivan’s Crossing is streaming on Netflix and The CW.
