Chance the Rapper has always been open about how much his family means to him, often crediting his role as a father as his most important job. He shares two daughters, Kensli and Marli, with Kirsten Corley, whom he separated from in 2024. Despite his busy career in music and philanthropy, Chance frequently highlights the joys and challenges of parenthood, giving fans a glimpse into his life at home through heartfelt interviews and social media posts. Recently, he opened up about his stance on Kim Kardashian’s hot take about kids having homework. Here’s what he said.

Chance the Rapper agrees with Kim Kardashian’s homework stance

Chance the Rapper’s two kids, Kensli, turning 10 in 2025, and Marli, 6, mean the world to him. While he and Kirsten Corley, whom he married in 2019, have decided to separate and ultimately divorce, they’re still devoted to being the best parents possible to their kids. While speaking to Complex, he noted that he has the “world’s best dad,” which has helped him navigate the tricky world of parenting.

“So, I wanna have the type of relationship where I’m a trusted figure beyond a dad,” he explained. “I wanna be a good friend and a good example.”

In September 2025, he spoke to Access Hollywood’s Emily Orozco on the MTV Video Music Award red carpet about music and life at home. He noted that having the kids back in school gives their days “more structure,” which he’s not opposed to. “It’s cool,” he said.

“Shout to education,” Chance added. “Keep education alive.”

When asked whether he’s “strict about grades,” he admitted that he had “bad grades as a kid.” For that reason, he doesn’t put a ton of stock into grades.

“I don’t really believe in grading anyway,” Chance continued. “But, I do think that both of my kids take academics super seriously. My oldest is turning 10, so she’s always trying to be at school.”

Orozco then asked Chance if he has the same stance about homework as Kim Kardashian, which she recently shared while on a live stream.

“I get it, I get it. Why would we have homework?” he noted. “That’s why we go to school.”

Kim Kardashian made waves in September 2025 by appearing on Kai Cenat’s livestream. Fans were surprised and delighted to see the reality star interact directly with the content creator’s audience, answering questions, reacting to challenges, and even joking around in real time. While speaking to Cenat and his friends, she explained why she doesn’t believe in teachers giving kids homework.

“I’m gonna tell you why — because kids are in school for eight hours a day,” Kardashian explained. “When they come home, they need to also then do sports, have a life, spend time with their family. I think the homework should be left for in school.”

Kardashian admitted that one of her kids “hates school,” leaving Kardashian to get “creative” about how she learns.

Chance the Rapper previously revealed that he was in special education classes as a kid

Before Kim Kardashian’s schooling and homework opinion, Chance the Rapper got candid about his past in special education.

“I was in Special Ed from fourth grade through graduating high school,” Chance said on Way Up With Angela Yee. “I had an IEP, which was an individualized education plan; I had certain classes that I didn’t go to that I had to go sit in a room with seven kids. What I’ll say is that those sort of diagnoses and labels on children definitely mess with their sense of self and confidence. I used to always feel like I was not smart when I was kid. And, obviously, I am smart.”
