Christine Brown and David Woolley’s Social Media Rant Backfires, Fans Call Them ‘Petty’
Sister Wives fans might have worried there wouldn’t be enough drama in Season 21 without Kody and Robyn Brown filming, but Kody’s three former wives are drumming up plenty to fill the episodes, and Instagram, too. Christine Brown Woolley and her husband, David Woolley, took to social media this weekend to vent about the latest episode of the TLC series, and it did not go the way they hoped. Instead of rallying viewers to their side, the couple’s video drew a wave of criticism, with many fans accusing them of overreacting and reopening an old feud with Meri Brown for no good reason.
What is Christine Brown so upset about now?
Season 21 of Sister Wives is just a few episodes in, but there has already been some drama. In Episode 2, Christine reunited with former sister wives Meri and Janelle Brown to sort through old family photos. When Meri and Janelle suggested recreating one of their old group portraits, Christine said no.

On camera, she explained that the image reminded her of the “hierarchy of wives” in her former plural marriage to Kody Brown, and of feeling she had always been ranked last. “I was put on the bottom,” she said. For many viewers, the moment was uncomfortable but understandable. That should have been the end of it, but it wasn’t.
Christine Brown took to Instagram to discuss the issue
On Saturday, October 24, Christine sat down with David and recorded a video for her Instagram followers about the episode and the photo that started the drama. She said she had been stewing over the episode for days and felt the edit never gave her a chance to fully explain herself.
She also questioned why she would pose as a unit with Meri and Janelle at all, when the only unit she belongs to now is her marriage to David. And she pushed back on Meri’s on-screen wish to stay close to Kody’s children, pointing out that most of them are adults who can decide for themselves.
Christine’s comments left fans confused, but David’s take drew even more criticism. In the clip, he went after Meri, claiming she let her friends trash-talk Christine on the show, though many viewers didn’t see it that way. He also suggested that Meri was using her bond with Kody’s kids as a manipulation tactic.
A follow-up video on Sunday did nothing to help Christine’s case. In that clip, she whined that the season was painting her as the villain and pointed to the favoritism and “games” she says she endured in her former plural marriage.
Fans aren’t buying it
The comment section quickly turned on the couple. Several viewers said they had rewatched the scene and never heard Meri’s friends insult Christine, and that any slight was imagined. Others argued that David had no business weighing in on Meri at all, considering his distant connection to her.
Some flipped the accusation back on Christine, noting that she has spent years speaking negatively about Meri and refusing to spend time with her. On Reddit, fans argued that the criticism David described paled in comparison to how Christine has treated Meri over the years, which Meri has seemingly put behind her.
Season 21 of Sister Wives airs Sundays on TLC. It’s unclear whether the drama between Meri and Christine will continue as the season progresses. Meri has not commented on Christine’s video or David’s remarks about her.
