Cristiano Ronaldo surprised fans recently with the announcement that he and Georgina Rodriguez had tied the knot in a small, private ceremony.

The couple, who have been together since 2016, got engaged in August 2025 after Ronaldo proposed with a massive 30-carat diamond ring. Since then, people have been speculating about everything from when the wedding would be to where it would take place to who would attend to what designer dress the bride would wear.

There was even talk that Ronaldo and Rodriguez’s wedding would be so over-the-top that it would rival Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s grand, star-studded affair at Madison Square Garden. That’s why many were taken aback that the newlyweds instead chose to say “I do” in an intimate, civil ceremony in the coastal town of Cascais near Lisbon on Aug. 11.

In attendance were Ronaldo and Rodriguez’s children — Alana, Bella, Eva Maria, Mateo, and Cristiano Jr. — along with four witnesses, whose names are also listed in the marriage certificate. They are the bride’s sister, Ivana Rodríguez; Miguel José, a close friend of Ronaldo’s; and Jose and Monica, a mother and son who are close with Georgina and work in the jewelry business.

Ronaldo is getting ready to continue with his professional soccer commitments in Saudi Arabia, although the Al-Nassr striker will be absent for the start of the Saudi league thanks to a special leave granted to him after the World Cup and will specifically miss the first two matches of the season.

Ahead of his season debut, the athlete surprised fans again, this time with a new look. Ronaldo was photographed sporting a new hairstyle that has fans divided as he changed up his traditional fade for a shorter buzz-style and dyed it a red color.

After seeing his new do, plenty of CR7 fans took to social media with their thoughts.

“I don’t know for you guys, but I don’t really like this new hairstyle,” one user wrote, while another commented, “That what happens when you get married! You do it for your wife now! No more your fans! What is this?”

“Man changes hairstyles more than [Manchester] United change managers,” a third fan posted.

“Has he actually chosen to be ginger?” another asked.

But not everyone was against Ronaldo’s new cut and color, with some fans exclaiming, “I like the new hairstyle, unique,” and “Bro looks 25 again with this trim!”

And another predicted, “This is the hair he will use to score that 1000 goals … I can’t wait.”
