D4vd is currently in police custody in Los Angeles, seven months after the body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez was located in the trunk of his car. It has been a long seven months, and while it might have looked like the LAPD was dragging its feet on the investigation, it was actually progressing fairly steadily. We’ve collected all the key moments in the investigation, from the gruesome discovery to D4vd’s surprise arrest.

September 8: Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s body is discovered

On September 8, 2025, as D4vd was out of town on tour, LAPD officers swarmed a Tesla registered to him. The car had been impounded days earlier from a Hollywood Hills street, not far from where D4vd was living. Police were called after impound lot attendants noticed a foul odor emanating from the vehicle.

Police found the decomposing body of a woman inside the trunk. Initial reports were vague, but it was later revealed that the body was found in two separate bags inside the front trunk of the Tesla. D4vd did not issue a statement, nor did he initially cancel tour dates. Early reports suggested he was cooperating, but they quickly changed.

September 16: The remains of Celeste Rivas Hernandez are identified by the medical examiner

It took several days for police to identify the victim found inside D4vd’s trunk. On September 16, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner announced that the remains belonged to Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a teen who had gone missing in April 2024 from Lake Elsinore, California.

Celeste would have turned 15 on September 7, the day before her remains were located. Based on the decomposition, it was clear the teen had died much earlier. She was just 13 when she was reported missing and 14 when she ultimately died, though the exact date of her death has not been made public.

September 17: The LAPD raids D4vd’s rental home

Just one day after the identity of the victim was announced, the LAPD descended on a rental home in the Hollywood Hills. According to several sources, the police removed bags of evidence from the property. D4vd moved out of the home immediately following the raid.

According to the Daily Mail, the home was rented by D4vd’s manager, Josh Marshall, in February 2024. The property owner had been unaware that D4vd was living at the home. He allowed Marshall to break the $ 20,000-per-month lease early.

September 19: D4vd cancels the remainder of his tour

D4vd’s tour, “Withered World Tour,” was in full swing when the body of Celeste was found inside his trunk. Initially, he continued touring, making his way through several shows before the identification of the body. On September 19, he canceled his last few stateside tour dates, including a show in Los Angeles.

Initially, it was unclear if he’d be heading overseas as originally intended. It took just days for tour dates across Europe to disappear, too. D4vd never made an official announcement about the canceled tour or the body found in his Tesla. In fact, to this day, he has not made an official statement. His label, however, made a statement when it stopped promoting his music and eventually dropped him, though.

Late September: D4vd signs over the property he owns in Texas to his mother

While the LAPD didn’t confirm that D4vd was a suspect in the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, the music artist must have known just how bad things looked right away. While the LAPD was still looking into the teen’s cause of death, he was back home in Houston making some serious changes to his finances.

According to ABC7 Chicago, D4vd signed over ownership of a home he owned in Cypress, Texas, to his mother on September 23. A second property was signed over to his mother days earlier, ensuring the 21-year-old did not own any real estate following the teen’s death and discovery.

Mid-November: A grand jury is convened; D4vd is listed as the “target

While things with the LAPD fell quiet after the initial raid on D4vd’s rental property, they were working behind the scenes on piecing things together. In October, reports began to surface that D4vd was officially a suspect in the teen’s death. In November, an investigative grand jury was convened to go over evidence in the case.

The grand jury reportedly mulled over evidence and heard testimony from several people close to the content creator for more than two months. It is unclear exactly when the grand jury concluded. They were meeting until at least February.

January 22: Neo Langston is arrested for failing to appear in front of the grand jury

Neo Langston, one of D4vd’s close friends, was arrested on January 22 in Montana after he failed to appear before a grand jury. Langston, a streamer who was seen regularly with D4vd, was apparently staying at his mother’s Montana ranch when police executed a warrant for his arrest. He was transferred to California, where he eventually testified.

It is unclear where Langston is living now. He has made several Instagram posts, making it clear that he and D4vd are no longer in contact or friends. In several of his messages, he insisted he had no knowledge of what happened to Celeste.

April 16: D4vd is arrested

The LAPD raided a home where D4vd had been staying for the last several weeks on April 16 and arrested the singer. According to TMZ, D4vd was arrested on suspicion of murder, though he has not been officially charged. The arrest is connected to Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death.

D4vd has not been officially charged yet because the district attorney is still looking at the evidence in the case. A final decision is expected on April 20. For now, the music artist is being held without bail at a Los Angeles jail. If he is, in fact, charged, he’ll likely be moved to a larger facility to await trial.

This is a developing story.
