Earlier this week, rumors began to swirl that Bravo had made a call on the beloved installment, and it wasn’t good news for fans. Reports started swirling that Bravo had officially canceled The Real Housewives of New York City, but apparently that’s not the case. A spokesperson insists no final decision has been made.

The cast of RHONY is still in limbo. While reports swirled that Bravo had finally pulled the plug on The Real Housewives of New York, the network had not confirmed a cancellation. Now, executives are speaking out. There might still be hope for the series.

Us Weekly caught up with a Bravo spokesperson who insisted the network had not canceled The Real Housewives of New York City. The insider told the publication that nothing is official, but a cancellation order hasn’t been handed down. While that’s not exactly good news, it’s not bad either.

The history of ‘The Real Housewives of New York City’

The Real Housewives of New York City debuted on Bravo in 2008 and quickly became popular. The series offered a deep dive into the busy and often dramatic lives of affluent women navigating New York’s social scene. Over the years, cast members have come and gone, but fans frequently cite the original cast, which included Bethenny Frankel, Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, and Jill Zarin, as the show’s best. The series became known for its dramatic confrontations and memorable moments, including Luann’s arrest in 2017.

In 2023, facing declining ratings, rising tension, and criticism, Bravo rebooted RHONY with an entirely new cast; fans weren’t exactly thrilled. The reboot faced its own controversies, and Bravo seemed iffy about the potential for its return. The most recent season, Season 15, concluded on February 4, 2025, with the “Reunion Part 2” episode.  

The show was placed on hiatus following the end of season 15. The Real Housewives of New Jersey was also placed on hiatus. The fate of that installment remains unknown as well.

Which ‘Real Housewives’ shows have been canceled?

It isn’t official that The Real Housewives of New York City has been canceled. Still, fans fear that the series will never return to Bravo. While the network has continuously grown the franchise, it isn’t against dumping installments if they don’t work or become too problematic. Over the years, they’ve canceled a few Real Housewives series.

The Real Housewives of Washington D.C. was the first to get the boot. The series premiered in 2010 and was canceled following its first season. Bravo also canceled The Real Housewives of Dallas. The series began in 2016. Bravo canceled the show after its 5th season in 2021. Dwindling ratings and accusations of racism led to its end. Maimi, Dubai, and New Jersey installments have all been subject to long pauses. Thus far, The Real Housewives of Miami is the only installment to return after a long hiatus with success. Still, anything could happen.
