Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel’s relationship has been tabloid fodder for weeks. The fallout of their alleged affair seemed swift, but was it really? New photos suggest Russini and Vrabel may have carried on a relationship for years without anyone catching on. Vrabel is choosing to deal with the fallout by making vague comments about his “standards.” Russini is taking a completely different route. The longtime journalist has opted to simply delete her social media presence in the wake of the new photo dump.
New photos show Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel’s romance dates back years
Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel made headlines when photos surfaced of the head coach and the sports reporter looking cozy. The backlash was swift, with Russini resigning from her job at The Athletic almost immediately. While Russini and Vrabel were clearly hoping the backlash would die down, that’s not what has happened.
Instead, new photos have surfaced that appear to show a long-standing relationship between the journalist and the coach. Page Six shared photos from 2020, showing Russini and Vrabel looking pretty cozy together in New York City. An eyewitness claimed the pair were canoodling and kissing throughout the evening. Within hours, additional photos of the pair together at a casino in 2024 surfaced. While the casino photos are tame, they do suggest that Russini and Vrabel had a long connection, despite them both being married to other people. Their respective spouses have not spoken out.
Vrabel has been married to Jen Vrabel since 1999. Russini wed Kevin Goldschmidt in September 2020, about six months after the New York City bar photos were taken. Russini and Goldschmidt, a Shake Shack vice president, welcomed children in 2021 and 2022.

The latest photos have apparently sent Dianna Russini into hiding. The former Athletic journalist responded to new photos of herself and Vrabel by deleting her prolific Twitter account. She’s not taking any chances on Instagram, either. While the profile still exists, Russini went private on the platform. She still has 200,000 followers to answer to, though.
Mike Vrabel is taking a different approach to the entire scandal. As the scandal has grown, he is acting a bit commitment-shy right now. Vrabel stepped away from the NFL Draft and has not confirmed whether he’ll be available for upcoming activities with the New England Patriots. While Vrabel has not yet been dismissed by the team, it seems like a distinct possibility. Vrabel is also opting not to comment directly on Russini or their connection. He has, however, vaguely suggested he hasn’t been living up to his own “standards” recently.
