Donald Trump Grabs First Lady Melania’s Rear End in Front of King Charles and Queen Camilla
After King Charles and Queen Camilla touched down in the U.S., they were welcomed at the White House by President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump. So many eyes were on the Trumps and the royal couple for the all-important state visit. And some eyebrows were raised when the president was seen touching his wife’s bottom a few times in the presence of his VIP guests.
One moment when Donald brushed Melania’s butt was when King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived on the South Lawn. It occurred as he shook hands with the royals and was shared on X.
As the first lady reaches out to shake the king’s hand, the president places his hand on the small of Melania’s back. He then appears to quickly rub her backside, but stops, possibly realizing the gesture, and brings his arm down to his side as he greets the queen.
The blink-and-you missed-it moment did not go unnoticed on social media.
One user noted, “Trump gives first lady Melania a playful tap on the tush during meeting with King Charles and Queen Camilla,” while another joked, “Melania looked so good today that Trump is willing to risk it all for a tushy tap.”
Following that brief brush, there were other photos taken that showed the president cupping Melania’s derrière as they walked alongside the king and queen towards the Washington Monument.
But while there were critical comments with some calling it a “total embarrassment,” others found nothing wrong with it, and posted sarcastic things like, “Shocking that a man would touch his wife” and “It’s gonna blow your mind when you find out how Barron came to be.”
And another concluded, “There are plenty of issues to take up about Trump. This isn’t one of them.”
What some are more upset about is that they believe Donald and Melania Trump broke protocol by not bowing and curtsying to the king and queen.
As one person fumed, “Trump did not bow to King Charles. Protocol shattered.”
However, Grant Harrold, who was King Charles’ personal butler from 2004 to 2011 and is also an etiquette expert, said that’s not something the president and first lady needed to do.
Speaking on behalf of Action Network, Harrold told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “Donald and Melania don’t need to bow or curtsy as they are not British. However, the president could do with working on his handshake, dignifying it a bit. It should be two or three pumps with your hands to the side, not too strong, not overpowering, not too limp — and make sure there is eye contact.”
Moreover, on the royals’ official website under “How to Greet a Member of the Royal Family,” it states: “There are no obligatory codes of behavior when meeting a member of the royal family, but many people wish to observe the traditional forms. For men, this is a neck bow (from the head only) whilst women do a small curtsy. Other people prefer simply to shake hands in the usual way.”
