CBS is headed back to Beantown.

Production on season 2 of Boston Blue is underway, series star Donnie Wahlberg revealed in a post on his Instagram Story on July 10.

“First Shabbat family dinner of the year, season 2,” the NKOTB star shared in a behind-the-scenes video of the cast gathered around a dining table on set. “We’re so grateful. We’re having fun. Can’t wait ’til you see the show.”

Not only has filming started on new episodes of the Boston Blue spinoff, but CBS has apparently already set a premiere date for the show’s return. In his next post, Wahlberg shared a CBS promo video that revealed season 2 would premiere on Friday, October 9.

“Let us tell you a story,” Wahlberg says as he introduces the clip. “You know it’s going to be good.”

“In this line of work…,” his co-star Sonqua Martin-Green chimes in.

“Family is who shows up,” Wahlberg concludes.

Boston Blue follows Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan character from Blue Bloods as he takes a new job with the Boston PD. There, he’s teamed up with Martin-Green’s Detective Lena Silver, who comes from a proud law enforcement family. As Danny forges a new life in Boston, he also hopes to to reconnect with his son, Sean (Mika Amonsen), who is beginning his own career as a cop in the city.
