As the event wrapped up, a fan recorded the couple interacting tensely inside a Sprinter van as they closed out the night. The video went viral with thousands of people assuming the couple was fighting. A well-known lipreader, Nicole Hickling, added fuel to the fire, claiming that the clip starts with Rihanna telling A$AP Rocky, “You don’t care for me, do you?” From there, she says, Rocky recoiled before calling his longtime love “crazy” before insisting he was “done.”

The couple’s tense exchange as they were wrapping up their evening is not the only clip from the evening that has fans questioning whether all is okay between them. A separate viral clip from inside the event showed Rihanna appearing to give Rocky a dirty look after spotting him chatting with a group of ladies. The women were identified as Giovanna Engelbert, EJAE, and Tyla. Another clip showed Rihanna potentially blowing off Tyla as she approached the famed singer.

After the additional clips emerged, online sleuths attempted to connect the two. Several fans theorized that Rihanna, angered by A$AP Rocky chatting up other women, confronted him, which led to the later tense moment. The couple has not confirmed that any drama actually unfolded. A source close to the couple told TMZ that they had been up for many hours and were simply tired, worn out, not unhappy or arguing.

The internet clearly panicked at the first sign of trouble between A$AP Rocky and Rihanna. That’s understandable. Fans really want their love story to work out. Still, it’s unclear exactly what happened between them, and they aren’t about to tell on themselves. If the duo had been arguing, which seems likely,  it hardly seemed like an arguement that would end a long-term romance.

They were not yelling at each other, their voices were not raised, nor was there any indication that the spat would escalate further once out of the public eye. Assuming the pair were really bothered by each other in the moment, it appears to have been a relatively tame quarrel after a long day and nothing more. Rihanna’s Instagram upload should set some minds at ease. She seems to be cool enough with A$AP Rocky to include him in her Met Gala recap, posted days after the video went viral. They were also recently spotted together looking perfectly happy again. We assume whatever transpired between them is officially water under the bridge now. At least, we hope it is.
