If the reports are true, then Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s wedding is fast approaching. It’s believed the two are getting hitched at either Madison Square Garden or Swift’s estate in Westerly, Rhode Island. There’s also been some information about the guest list as well after Suki Waterhouse confirmed that she was attending.

Now, an etiquette expert is sharing some wedding dos and don’ts, including which costs should be passed on to guests and which the bride and groom should pick up.

Grant Harrold was King Charles’ personal butler for seven years. During his time working for the now-monarch, Harrold’s duties also included those of valet, housekeeper, house manager, and driver. Since leaving the royal household, he’s become one of the U.K.’s leading etiquette experts, a best-selling author, and a commentator.

Harrold talked about what the best “plus-one” policy is and how that could present a real issue for the pop star and football player.

Speaking on behalf of SMC Coach Hire, he told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “It’s very difficult to balance. In royal weddings, you can only have a plus one if you are married, so other couples could apply this rule to their own big day. If you have more space and the budget, then you can allow everyone to have a plus one … People should definitely not expect to have a plus one if they have not been offered one, and you shouldn’t ask for one either.

“Taylor and Travis have attended lots of weddings as each other’s plus ones, so I imagine they will be generous with their plus ones. However, they are being very strict on privacy, so who they can trust will be a big factor for them.”

Harrold also discussed what guests should pay for.

According to the former royal employee, “Some weddings have an open bar, but many don’t — so this is where things can get expensive. The bride and groom should check the price list at a wedding to make sure their guest won’t have to remortgage their home to buy a few glasses of fizz. Then guests should pay for things like accommodation and travel.

“Again, I can’t see this being an issue for Taylor and Travis, and I imagine the drinks will be flowing. The main expense their guests will face will be their outfits, as they want to impress, knowing photos from the day will go around the world. And of course, a present fit for two of the world’s biggest superstars.”

Finally, Harrold issued a warning to Swift and Kelce about leaving guests waiting around.

“The longest ‘wait’ period at a wedding is normally the cocktail hour, when the newlyweds are off having their photos taken,” the etiquette expert noted. “I would suggest a reasonable time is an hour before guests are being seated for dinner, but guests should be patient and respectful of whatever the bride and groom have chosen. The most important thing here is to make sure the drinks are flowing and there is enough food for your guests. This would be my main bit of advice to Taylor and Travis, as there is nothing worse than clock watching and waiting for your dinner.”
