The Bachelor is in need of a fresh start. The long-running dating competition has come up against some serious roadblocks over the years. Drama surrounding The Bachelorette and the contestants chosen to compete for love has put a serious stain on the show’s reputation.
Fans think Ezra Frech could be the fresh start The Bachelor needs. The idea gained steam after pop culture podcaster Morgan Paige posted an Instagram video arguing that Frech could reinvigorate the long-suffering series. Her followers quickly agreed, with many saying he could single-handedly revive the show.
While he’s a bit young for the job, Frech has a compelling story, a wholesome quality, and a built-in fanbase thanks to his time on Dancing with the Stars. Bachelor Nation hasn’t aired a new season since Grant Ellis’ Bachelor run in 2025. A planned season of The Bachelorette starring Taylor Frankie Paul was shelved following her domestic violence arrest, and ABC has said The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise will return in 2027. The network has yet to name its next lead.
Ezra isn’t totally against the idea
The idea that Ezra Frech could be the next Bachelor gained so much steam that the New York Post approached him about it. As it turns out, Ezra has been a little busy focusing on his dancing competition and his upcoming athletic pursuits. He had no idea anyone was even talking about casting him in a dating show.
According to the outlet, he found the whole thing pretty funny. Still, he didn’t shoot down the idea entirely. He told the outlet, “I don’t know, I’d have to see,” when asked if he’d consider signing up for the job. While it isn’t exactly an enthusiastic commitment, he’s not closing the door on the idea either. That might be enough for fans for now.
Who is Ezra Frech?
Born in Los Angeles, Frech was born without most of his left leg, including his knee and fibula, and was missing fingers on his left hand. He received his first prosthetic at 11 months old, and at age 2 he underwent surgery in which a toe from his amputated foot was transplanted onto his hand.
He started gaining attention as a young athlete and appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show at 9, where he talked about his dream of competing in the Paralympics. Ezra made that dream a reality, making his Paralympic debut at the Tokyo Games in 2021. He finished fifth in the high jump. Three years later in Paris, he won gold in both the high jump and the 100 meters.
He is currently a student-athlete at the University of Southern California, where he studies cinematic arts. Right now, he is competing on Season 35 of Dancing with the Stars, partnering with pro Daniella Karagach. Competing on a running blade, Ezra has become one of the season’s standout contestants.
While Ezra Frech would be an interesting choice for the next Bachelor, the 21-year-old isn’t the only one in the running. Rumors have been swirling that content creator Dr. Mike is a serious consideration, too. Dr. Mike is much older than Frech, at 36. While both men would be interesting choices, they’d likely appeal to much different viewer demographics.
