‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’: AnnaSophia Robb’s Alice Gets Caught By Patty [Exclusive Clip]
Last week, Grosse Pointe Garden Society finally pulled the curtain back on its biggest mystery.
In the series premiere of NBC’s mystery-comedy, we watched as Catherine, Brett, Birdie, and Alice buried a body in the garden. But the corpse’s identity wasn’t revealed until the May 2 episode. Now, the members of the quartet are desperately attempting to cover up their role in the death, as seen in this exclusive clip from the show’s May 9 installment.
[Warning: Spoilers ahead for the May 2 episode of Grosse Pointe Garden Society.]
Alice and Brett try to conceal their role in Keith’s death
In hindsight, maybe we should have seen this coming all along. The foursome has been using the codename “quiche” to refer to the victim. Now, we know the body is in fact Patty’s (Nancy Travis) husband Keith (Ron Yuan), who accidentally took a garden tool to the back in an effort to save his wife’s precious quilt from the wood chipper.
Poor Keith was definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time. Alice (AnnaSophia Robb) wanted revenge on Patty after she learned that her mother-in-law had killed her beloved dog. She texted Patty to meet them in the gardening shed, where they planned to let her watch as they destroyed the quilt she’d just spent thousands of dollars on at the auction. Unfortunately, Keith intercepted the message and showed up instead. A struggle ensued, leading to Keith’s death.
How will the gang explain Keith’s disappearance? It looks like they’re going to start by trying to delete those text messages Alice sent to Patty. In the clip from “The Fallow Period,” Alice and Brett (Ben Rappaport) sneak into Patty’s house with the goal of erasing the incriminating messages. But their plan hits a snag when Patty wakes up and finds Alice in her kitchen.
Patty gives Alice some advice

“What are you doing?” a confused Patty asks her daughter-in-law. Alice claims she just let herself to look for her husband, Doug. Meanwhile, Brett is crouched behind the kitchen island, unbeknownst to Patty.
Doug is at the cabin, Patty replies, telling Alice not to worry. “His dad is joining him tomorrow,” she adds.
Patty asks if Keith’s car is in the driveway, and Alice nervously shakes her head no.
“Men,” Patty says. “He’s always at some fast-food drive-thru stuffing his face, thinking I won’t wake up.”
Patty nearly stumbles over Brett as she starts to make tea, but Alice distracts her by apologizing for her behavior at the gala and asking if Doug is OK.
“Do you really care?” Patty asks
Alice says Doug is still her husband as she nervously eyes her MIL’s phone.
“Then let’s talk honestly for once,” Patty says. “You can’t fake marriage, Alice.”
“Doug mean everything to me,” she replies.
“That doesn’t mean that there isn’t a tiny bit of room for someone else,” Patty says, as Brett listens in. “And if you stay in this game long enough, there’s bound to be another man who gets you better than your husband.”
Will Alice and Brett be able to get their hands on Patty’s phone and erase the messages before she reads them? And more importantly, how long will it take Patty to realize that Keith is not at the cabin – or on a late-night Mickey D’s run? With the season finale fast approaching, it’s anyone’s guess whether the group’s secrets can stay buried.
Grosse Pointe Garden Society airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
