Two years after announcing his break from acting, Ryan Paevey is set to return to the world of romantic TV movies.

The actor will star in the upcoming holiday romance Christmas at Moose Lake for Great American Family, the network announced Thursday. Ryan Paevey to star in ‘Christmas at Moose Lake’

In Christmas at Moose Lake, Paevey will play a man who reconnects with a woman named Alyssa (Britt Robertson) when she returns to her family’s lake house for Christmas after a recent breakup. The film, which will also feature Natasha Henstridge and Kevin Dillon, is currently in production.

“Welcoming Ryan Paevey to Great American Christmas is especially exciting,” said Great American Media CEO Bill Abbott. “Ryan and I have a long-shared history of making audience-favorite films, and I know first-hand the warmth and authenticity he brings to each role. It is truly thrilling to bring this stellar cast to Great American Christmas.”

Paevey’s move to Great American Family received an enthusiastic response from some fans.

“Super exciting to see this. I am so happy he joined Great American Family!” one person commented on Instagram

But others were disappointed that the actor had  aligned himself with Hallmark’s more conservative rival.

“Very disappointed by this news,” someone wrote, adding that they “do not support this channel.”

Ryan Paevey returned to ‘General Hospital’ in 2025

In April 2024, a “weary” Paevey announced on social media that he had decided to pause his acting career amid frustrations with the industry.

“Sadly no word of a film,” he wrote on X. “I may take 2024 off from filming, unless the project is with friends. The last 8 months of life in this industry have left a pretty bitter taste in my mouth, and I need some time away from a world so full of fake friends and empty promises.”

“I had a great run … I have much to be grateful for,” he continued. “I’ll figure out a way to stay afloat without acting income…who knows, maybe a film will come along. Insurance would be nice, haha.”

Paevey’s last TV movie was 2023’s Under the Christmas Sky for Hallmark. In September 2025, he returned to General Hospital as Nathan West, the character he played from 2013 to 2018. Nathan died when Paevey decided to leave the soap. Upon Paevey’s return, it initially seemed that Nathan had come back from the dead. But it was later revealed that the man everyone was thought was Nathan was actually’s his identical twin brother, Cassius Faison.
