HGTV Resurrects Cult-Favorite Home Reno Franchise ‘Crashers,’ With NKOTB’s Jonathan Knight to Host
Jonathan Knight is coming back to HGTV, less than a year after the network canceled his home renovation series Farmhouse Fixer.
The NKOTB member will host a 13-episode reboot of Crashers, the cult-favorite reno franchise whose previous iterations included Kitchen Crashers and Yard Crashers. It features unsuspecting homeowners who get a free, 72-hour renovation of one of their home’s lackluster spaces. It premieres June 8.
“Everyone has that one space that really needs work,” Knight said. “But they have no time, no money and no idea where to start—and that’s where I come in. I love a challenge and especially one that’s going to change someone’s life in 72 hours.”
The ambush-style Crashers follows Knight as he approaches people in furniture boutiques, hardware stores, and paint shops with a tempting – but risky – offer. They can get a fast-paced reno courtesy of the show’s team, but they’ll need to agree to three rules: The renovation starts immediately; they have no say in the design; and they must vacate their home for the full three days.
It’s a roll of the dice for these homeowners, but it could pay off in a big way. Throughout the season, Knight will oversee jaw-dropping whirlwind transformations, from beautiful backyards to dazzling kitchens, with the help of a crew of skilled designers.
In the premiere, Knight will meet a homeowner at the hardware store in Folsom, California, who can’t pass up a free kitchen renovation for his family of five (including his ex-wife!). With the help of his team, Jon will demos the space down to the studs and dream up a new layout to better serve the large family’s needs. In three days, he’ll deliver a completely renovated kitchen with optimized storage, brand-new appliances, functional banquette seating and a custom beverage station.
Crashers premieres Monday, June 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on HGTV.
