Can David and Mychal overcome this trial?

Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios’House of David returned for its second season on October 5, picking up the epic story of David (Michael Iskander), who is destined to become the King of Israel. In the first two episodes, David basked in the glory of his defeat of Goliath, which led to King Saul (Ali Suliman) to name him a commander in his army. Saul also promised David a bride, apparently clearing the way for the young shepherd turned warrior to be with his love, the Princess Mychal (Indy Lewis).

But there was a catch. At the end of episode 2, Saul left both his daughter and David stunned when he offered David the hand of his other daughter, Mirab (Yali Topol Margalith). Mirab had previously expressed frustration that Mychal always seemed to get what she wanted while she was stuck with the short end of the stick. Her brother, Eshbaal (Sam Otto), advised her to believe that she was worthy and to ask for the things she wanted. That led Mirab to approach Saul and request that he find her a husband after a planned marriage fell apart in season 1 because of her father’s paranoia.

In this exclusive clip from the “The Middle Path,” the third episode of House of David Season 2, David and Mychal discuss their situation and whether Saul’s position on David’s marriage can be changed.

“He doesn’t listen,” Mychal says, apparently speaking of her mercurial father. “Why is this so difficult?”

David tries to reassure her, telling her that they’ll “find a way.” But Mychal is not convinced.

“It’s like the world has conspired to hold us back,” she replies. “It’s constantly pushing us against the current.”

David places his hands on Mychal’s face. “Well, then we will keep swimming,” he says. “Or better yet, we will change the course of the river altogether.”

“Mychal, the Lord helped me defeat a giant,” he continues. “I’m sure he will help me speak to your father.”

Yet David may not fully realize what he is up against in the powerful Saul, who is not used to having his directives questioned.

“My father, he will not fall so easily,” she warns him.

House of David Season 2 Episode 3 premieres Sunday, October 12 on the Wonder Project subscription on Prime Video.
