Inside Janet Jackson’s Alleged Feud With Brother Jermaine
While a number of Michael Jackson’s siblings have supported the new biopic about him, the film reportedly caused a fight between Janet and Jermaine Jackson. At a screening for the Jackson family, Janet allegedly harshly criticized the movie. Insiders say this caused a heated reaction from Jermaine.
Janet Jackson reportedly began fighting with Jermaine Jackson at a showing of ‘Michael’
Ahead of the premiere of Michael, the Jackson family gathered for a private screening of the film. Janet reportedly made her dislike of the film resoundingly clear.
“She had something negative about almost every scene,” one person present at the screening told Page Six.
The source claimed that Janet did not approve of any element of the film.
“The acting, the makeup, how the actors spoke, even how they walked,” the source said. “It was Janet deciding against the room that this movie wasn’t going to meet her approval.”
This reportedly prompted Jermaine to sharply chastise his sister.
“You are going to miss this wave,” Jermaine reportedly told his sister. “You are so jealous — just get on the wave.”
Jermaine reportedly views the film as redemption for the family, so he did not appreciate Janet’s critiques.
La Toya Jackson addressed the feud rumors
After the reports of a feud at the family viewing, La Toya Jackson attempted to change the narrative.
“There was absolutely no problem whatsoever,” La Toya told Entertainment Tonight (per E! News). “And please believe it.”
Despite this, Janet declined to attend the premiere and does not appear at all in the film.
“She was asked and she kindly declined,” La Toya said. “So you have to respect her wishes.”
Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris, also spoke out about the film
Janet is not the only member of the Jackson family to criticize the film. Paris Jackson, Michael’s daughter, pushed back against actor Colman Domingo’s claim that she was supportive of the movie.
“Don’t be telling people I was helpful on the set of a movie I had 0% involvement in lol that is so weird,” she wrote via Instagram Story. “I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my thoughts on what was dishonest/didn’t sit right with me and when they didn’t address it I moved on with my life. Not my monkeys not my circus. God bless and god speed.”
Domingo later reached out to Paris to say the outlet took his comments out of context, which she said she appreciated. In a recent conversation with Entertainment Tonight, she said she is “wishing him and my cousin success and joy and happiness.” Paris’ cousin, Jaafar Jackson, plays the singer in the biopic.
She added that she hopes it will convey the message of “love and light” with regard to her father’s legacy.
