She has three cats, all named after TV or movie characters. Meredith Grey is named for Grey’s Anatomy, while Olivia Benson is named after the beloved Law & Order character. Benjamin Button shares a name with the mystical movie character from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, a man who aged in reverse. The cats have made frequent cameos over the years, from music videos to red-carpet interviews, and have become such fixtures of Swift’s public persona that any hint of a new pet joining the household was bound to make headlines.
The Mystery Dog was first spotted in March
Once Swift got serious with Travis Kelce, fans started speculating about whether they would add more pets to the family. Kelce is notably a dog person, having owned a goldendoodle and a pomsky at one point. The Kansas City Star notes that Kelce co-owned the dogs with ex Kayla Nicole, who took the pets after the split.
Considering that history, fans assumed he’d want to add a new one to the family, and it seems they were right. Early clues that Kelce and Swift had added a dog to their family started back in March, when the couple were spotted at Westchester County Airport with a dog that appeared to be a Samoyed.
Not long after, Jason Kelce discussed his brother’s “investment” couches being chewed on, citing a “new puppy.” There were additional sightings here and there, but the rumor really heated up during their lavish wedding weekend. Footage from their Madison Square Garden celebration showed a pink hallway lined with framed photos from the couple’s relationship, including one that appeared to show them holding a small white puppy. The puppy in the photo matched the one seen in the spy photos from March.

The speculation has now been put to rest for good. TMZ published clear photos today of the fluffy white pup stepping off Swift’s private jet at the newly renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport in Palm Beach, Florida, after the couple landed there on Sunday. A handler carefully guided the dog down the aircraft’s stairs while Kelce, nearby, was seen collecting luggage. It’s the clearest look fans have gotten yet, following weeks of grainy photos, wedding-hallway sightings, and umbrella-blocked airport glimpses.
What is a bit unclear is why Swift has stayed so quiet about it. She’s been so vocal about her cats that fans can’t help but wonder why a new puppy has been kept such a secret — including the dog’s name, breed, and exact adoption date, none of which the couple has confirmed.
If the dog is a Samoyed as widely assumed, the pup is a good fit for the couple. The Samoyed’s upturned mouth makes it look perpetually cheerful, matching their friendly and social personalities. They are also athletic dogs who love a good run, which fits in nicely with Kelce’s career. They’re also considered safe around children and other animals, which is good news for Taylor’s cats.
