Jax Taylor’s finances are in shambles amid his contentious split from estranged wife Brittany Cartwright. 

Jax Taylor files for a restraining order against Brittany Cartwright

On Tuesday, Jax filed for a restraining order against Brittany. The move came roughly a week after she went to court in Los Angeles seeking a protective order of her own. Brittany – who shares a five-year-old son, Cruz, with Jax – says her ex has made violent threats and stalked her, and that he even threatened to “gut” her “like a fish.”  

Now, Jax is claiming he’s a victim as well. In court docs obtained by TMZ, the former star of The Valley says Brittany is making it nearly impossible for him to earn a living. He alleges that she has reached out to potential employers and business partners and threatened to publicly shame them or “worse if they hire me or associate with me in any way.”

Companies have been forced “to distance themselves from me out of fear that she will create a public backlash against them,” he wrote in his filing. 

Brittany’s actions have already cost Jax a spot on the Fox competition series Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, he says. That gig would have brought in a $175,000 paycheck. 

The Vanderpump Rules alum also revealed that he is still receiving $5,000 per month from his deal with Bravo, even though he hasn’t appeared on the network since August 2025. However, that paycheck will stop in November 2026. Jax says he needs Brittany to stop interfering with his various projects because his savings are “rapidly diminishing.” 

In his filing, Jax also claimed that Brittany was “massively unstable and an alcoholic.”

Finances are a major issue in Brittany and Jax’s ongoing divorce   

Brittany filed for divorce from Jax in August 2024, but the split has not been finalized. Their messy finances have complicated their situation, with Brittany alleging that her ex failed to pay both his taxes and the mortgage on the home they co-own. The couple ultimately had to re-mortgage their home to pay his tax bill. That led to a significant jump in their monthly payment. And Brittany says that she’s footing the bill. 

“My mortgage used to be around $8,000 [per month]. I pay $18,000 [a month] now because of his taxes,” she said on The Valley: After Show last year.
