Jennifer Lopez Will Take a Pass on ‘The Bachelorette’
It seems as though The Bachelorette has a bit of a reputation problem these days. Not long ago, several celebrities had tossed their hats in the ring to help change the show’s direction. After the public relations nightmare that was Jenn Tran’s season, followed by the chaotic cancellation of Taylor Frankie Paul’s much-hyped season, no one is interested in touching the show, it seems. At least, Jennifer Lopez isn’t interested in leading The Bachelorette. The iconic actress and singer recently and very emphatically revealed that she is totally not interested in showing up on the dating competition.
Jennifer Lopez is against appearing on ‘The Bachelorette’
Jennifer Lopez’s love life has played out in the headlines for the better part of three decades. Her romances, her marriages, and her divorces have all been turned into front-page news. That’s been largely against her will, though. Lopez is apparently not a huge fan of airing all of her business to the public, at least not willingly. She recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and when asked if she would share her journey to find love with the world, her answer was an emphatic no.
Lopez appeared on the talk show on May 27, and chatted about her work and her well-publicized status as a single lady. Kimmel questioned if she’d consider giving The Bachelorette a shot, acting as a future leading lady. Lopez didn’t even need to think about it. She replied, “No. Are you crazy? I’m not doing anything to ruin how I feel right now. It’s fantastic. I love it.”
Lopez insists she’s happy being single. Still, if she does meet someone someday, you can rest assured that it won’t be on ABC. It sounds like the “Waiting for Tonight” singer is more interested in an organic meet-cute than a network-organized group date.
Other Celebrities Who Have Expressed Interest in the Franchise
The Bachelorette isn’t Jenny from the Block’s preferred method of meeting a man. Still, other celebrities haven’t been entirely against using the series to find a special someone. Kathy Griffin floated the idea of becoming the next Golden Bachelorette back in 2025. She reasoned she was single, sexy, and 64, meaning she checked all the boxes on the application. The network didn’t go for it.
Real Housewives of New York City alum Luann de Lesseps also threw her hat into the ring, insisting she would be “perfect” for the series. According to StyleCaster, de Lesseps, who has been married twice, insists she’s “manifesting” her next great love and thinks ABC could help her out with that. So far, the network has only given a celebrity a chance as the lead once, and we already know how that has gone. Taylor Frankie Paul’s season was paused amid domestic violence allegations. While there is a good chance fans will get to see it over the summer, the optics on the situation were not great. They still aren’t, if we are being honest.
