Jessa Seewald Sent Josh Duggar a 13 Word Message While He Was in Prison
In a rambling and mostly chaotic message to his mother from his jail cell at Washington County Detention Center back in 2022, Josh Duggar bemoaned many things. One of his biggest complaints was that most of his siblings failed to reach out to him in his moment of need. While he complained about the lack of support, he did eventually admit that two of his 18 siblings had contacted him in some way. Jessa Seewald sent him a message while his younger brother, John David Duggar, visited with him via video chat. While Josh didn’t mention what the contents of Jessa’s email were, a FOIA revealed exactly what she said. In the short message, she was a woman of few words, penning just 13 words in her one-time correspondence with her eldest, very troubled brother.
Jessa Seewald sent a 13-word message to Josh Duggar
Jessa Seewald was one of the two siblings who were willing to reach out to him after he was convicted of possessing and receiving child pornography. He was so bothered by that fact that he brought it up to his mother. After reading Jessa’s 13-word message, it is clear that none of his siblings actually wants anything to do with him.
People obtained the email sent from Jessa around Josh’s birthday in March 2022. In the message, she simply wrote, “Happy birthday, Josh! We love you and are praying for you! Love, The Seewalds.” Jessa made no mention of his incarceration, his impending sentence, or anything from back home. Frankly, it seems she was just checking another chore off her to-do list.
While several outlets have obtained copies of Josh Duggar’s messages, many of them to and from his wife, Anna Duggar, transcripts of his phone calls have not been released. His video chats likely will never see the light of day, either. Followers are unlikely to ever learn what he and John David chatted about in their brief interaction.
Only one sibling has actually visited Josh Duggar in federal prison
Josh Duggar complained about the lack of sibling support while he was still close to home in Washington County Detention Center ahead of his sentencing. He has since been moved hundreds of miles away to Seagoville, Texas. There he is serving out his 151-month prison term at a federal facility.
While it might be easy to assume he’s not getting a whole lot of family support while hours from home, one Duggar family member actually did pop up to visit him. Joseph Duggar, who is now facing his own sex crimes charges, is the only Duggar sibling who has ever been spotted visiting Joshua at FCI Seagoville. He paid him a visit around his birthday back in 2024.
Despite Joseph making the trip just a couple of years ago, Josh released a statement after his brother’s arrest, distancing himself from him. In his statement, shared by his lawyer, Josh claimed he and Joseph had not been close in some time.
