Joseph Duggar Requests a Modifcation to 2 No-Contact Orders
After a stunning arrest in March, Joseph Duggar is attempting to get back to work while he awaits trial in Florida. The Arkansas native, however, claims a no-contact order issued alongside his lewd and lascivious behavior charges is preventing him from doing so. The accused sexual predator has asked a judge to change the perimeters of that order. This is where his criminal case stands.
Joseph Duggar is seeking a modification to his no-contact order
Joseph Duggar is asking a Florida judge to loosen restrictions tied to the no-contact order issued in his child molestation case. According to court filings obtained by Page Six, Joseph wants the order modified so he can legally be within 500 feet of a home once associated with the alleged victim. The filing goes on to claim that the victim has since vacated the property. The property in question is one of several parcels of land that Joseph and his wife, Kendra Caldwell, own. Some of those properties have been turned into income properties as they navigate separate legal cases.
Joseph is also seeking a change to a no-contact order issued against him for his own children. Following his arrest for his alleged crimes in Florida, Joseph was charged with eight unrelated charges in his home state, including false imprisonment and child endangerment. His wife was also hit with the same charges.
After those charges were filed, he and Kendra were both ordered to have no contact with their four minor children. A judge agreed to lift the order for Kendra last month. The same was not done for Joseph. Now, he is seeking a similar change. According to several sources, Joseph’s attorney asked a judge to lift the order because it was “creating a hardship for the family unit.” A decision has not yet been made. Regardless of what happens, Joseph is not allowed to have unsupervised contact with any minor as a stipulation of his bail in Florida. It is unclear where the four children he and Kendra share are currently residing. They were removed from the family home in March.
A brief timeline of Joseph Duggar’s legal troubles
Joseph Duggar found himself in the news in March after he was arrested on two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior. Tontitown, Arkansas, detectives made the arrest on behalf of the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.
According to court records, Joseph reportedly admitted to molesting a 9-year-old girl during a 2020 family vacation to Panama City, Florida. The alleged victim, now 14, claimed Joseph forced her into his lap and touched her inappropriately repeatedly while on the trip. She only revealed the incident to her parents recently.
Following his initial arrest in Arkansas, Joseph was extradited to Florida. His bond was set at $600,000 during his first court appearance on March 31. Jim Bob Duggar was on hand to pay the bond and was later spotted escorting his troubled son back to Arkansas.
Joseph has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
