Kate Middleton Was the First Royal to ‘Turn Her Back’ on Ex-Prince Andrew After Scandalous Revelations
Kate Middleton doesn’t mess around.
Prince William’s wife was the first member of the royal family to give the disgraced former Prince Andrew the cold shoulder, refusing to speak to him at holidays and during other family events, according to the author of a new book.
Kate Middleton wants nothing to do with former Prince Andrew
“She is the first royal to cut him off, to turn her back on him,” Christopher Andersen, author of the new book Kate! The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will be Queen, recently told Page Six.
“Kate is looking forward,” he added, noting that “she’s the wife of a future monarch” as well as the “mother of a future monarch.”
At Christmastime, the princess made a decisive move to show that she did not want to be associated with her uncle-in-law, who is now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor since being stripped of his royal titles last year. Andrew apparently wanted to attend the Princess of Wales’ holiday concert at Westminster Abbey. But he was told – in no uncertain terms – that he wasn’t welcome.
“He asked, through intermediaries, if he could slip in a side door,” Andersen claimed. He was told, “Nope, we don’t want your face on camera.”
Kate and William have a frosty relationship with disgraced royal
Andrew has had a precipitous fall from grace. As more details about his relationship with sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein have emerged, the royal family has taken clear steps to distance themselves from the former Duke of York. In addition to losing his titles, he’s been cut out from official royal events and been evicted from his home, Royal Lodge. Earlier this year, he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office for allegedly sharing confidential trade information with Epstein.
Kate’s recent snubbing of Andrew comes after what insiders say are years of frosty relations between the pair. She and William have reportedly long resented Andrew for the way he treated the “commoner” Kate when she and William first got involved. The future king and queen think that the current monarch, King Charles III, has not been firm enough with this brother.
“Differences between monarch and heir do remain, especially when it comes to the Prince Andrew scandal,” royal journalist Richard Kay told the Mail Online earlier this year (via People). “William has long held a grudge against Andrew for being unwelcoming when he first introduced the then Kate Middleton to the royal family and feels that his father has been too soft on him.”
