Were Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi Performing ‘Media Smiles’ and ‘Fake Emotions’ During Date in Tokyo?

Just weeks after they were seen kissing at Justin Bieber’s Coachella after-party and taking a Hawaiian getaway together, Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi were spotted on another date, this time in Tokyo.

The model and the Euphoria actor took a photo with the staffers at a ramen restaurant in the city. But some on social media doubt that their relationship is growing into anything serious and think the smiles from the pair are nothing more than just a show for the camera.

Now, an expert is weighing in on what he clearly sees from Jenner and Elordi in the snap.

Darren Stanton is a body language and behavioral expert. He has a degree in psychology and previously worked as a police officer, using his expertise to uncover the truth when interviewing hundreds of suspects. He later moved into media and has been dubbed the “Human Lie Detector.” Stanton now offers his expert analysis on high-profile public figures.

Speaking on behalf of Covers, he told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “Jacob and Kendall depict a real physical closeness and are comfortable in each other’s space. Her arms are folded inwards, which suggests that she is very calm and comfortable in his personal space. His posture shows relaxed shoulders and is leaning in the same direction as her.  

“Both their smiles are completely genuine and their cheek muscles are engaged. Jacob and Kendall are not doing media smiles or fake emotions. Overall, it’s a really authentic photo and it’s very much in the moment — there is no staging and it’s a nice moment. I do think their relationship is growing — they are already very gelled and very together. There are no signs of mismatch or distance in body language, but rather they are very tight and have a deep rapport.”
