Kim Kardashian Isn’t the Only Family Member Who Loves Wearing Dead Celebrities’ Clothing
Kim Kardashian is no longer the only member of the Kar-Jenner clan who has worn the clothing once seen on dead Hollywood icons to high-profile events. Kris Jenner has just stunned fans with the ensemble she wore to the All’s Fair Season 2 premiere at the Rome Film Festival in Italy on Oct. 24.
Jenner donned a black velvet cloak with two diamond scorpions on the front and one on the hood. The dramatic cape was owned by Elizabeth Taylor as the Tiziani Roma design was custom-made for the Oscar winner. Taylor wore it back in 1969 when she attended Princess Grace of Monaco’s Scorpio-themed 40th birthday party.
For the All Fair‘s premiere, Jenner, who is an executive producer on the Hulu legal drama, appeared alongside Kim to promote the new season. She accessorized with white gloves to go with the show-stopping cloak’s ivory lining and the floor-length white gown she had on underneath the cape.
Christie’s auctioned Taylor’s outfit off in 2011 for $60,000, and Kim revealed that her mom now owns it and even let her borrow it two weeks earlier for the All’s Fair Season 2 trailer red carpet event. The cape also inspired Ryan Murphy to write an entire episode around Kim’s character throwing her own Scorpio Ball.
Regarding Kris’ outfit many fans pointed out that Kim has worn outfits or accessories that previously belonged to dead celebrities on multiple occassions including in 2022 when she arrived at the Met Gala in Marilyn Monroe’s famous crystal-embellished dress, which the late star wore when she sang “Happy Birthday” to John F. Kennedy in 1962.
Kardashian also purchased and wore the Attallah Cross that Princess Diana owned. That piece cost her $197,453. Moreover, the reality star bought three jade bracelets designed by Lorraine Schwartz that belonged to Taylor.
“Why can’t they just wear their own stuff instead of desecrating all the clothing items that real icons have actually worn?” one person commented.
“They seriously have zero style and have to steal from the people who did and think it does them the same justice. It’s insulting,” another added.
“First Marilyn’s dress, Jackie O’s watch, now this?” a third person questioned.
A fourth posted, “The callousness of these women knows no bounds. I have never seen so much degradation.”
“Elizabeth would’ve never approved,” another opined, while a sixth said, “She will never be Liz. Just like her daughter will never be Marilyn. No comparison.”
And if you’re wondering what the SKIMS founder wore for the premiere alongside her mother, she rocked a leopard print Yves Saint Laurent gown from 1986.
