Wedding bells will be ringing for rapper Lil’ Wayne, who is reportedly making another trip down the aisle.
According to TMZ, the “Mr. Carter” lyricist secretly got engaged earlier this year. Lil’ Wayne has been very private about his current relationship, so not much is known about his fiancée’s identity except that she is from Indiana and in her 20s.
But Wayne wasn’t always so low-key about his love life over the years and dated a slew of high-profile women, including actress Christina Milian and fellow rapper Trina. Wayne was also previously married and engaged more than once. Here’s how many times Wayne popped the question, plus how many children the hip-hop artist has.
Lil’ Wanye was married to Toya Johnson
Lil’ Wayne was married one other time to his teenage sweetheart, Toya Johnson (formerly Toya Wright).
They welcomed their daughter, Reginae Carter, in 1998 when Wayne was just 16 years old. Although they were never publicly engaged, the two got married on Valentine’s Day in 2004. Their marriage lasted for two years until they divorced in 2006.
Following their divorce, Wayne and Johnson remained on good terms while co-parenting Reginae, and both have spoken respectfully about one another, often emphasizing the strong family bond they maintained despite their split.
Wayne was previously engaged to other women
Rumors swirled for years that Wayne was engaged to Trina, but that was never confirmed. We do know that he was engaged to singer Nivea, twice.
The “Lollipop” hitmaker and “Don’t Mess With My Man” songstress were engaged during the early 2000s before Wayne married Johnson. They called it quits in 2003.
After their breakup, Nivea married songwriter and record producer The Dream, and they had three children together. However, they eventually split, and she and Wayne rekindled their relationship. They got engaged again in 2009 when Nivea was pregnant with their son, Neal.
While they were together, Wayne admitted that another woman, Lauren London, was also expecting his child. They broke up for the final time in 2010.
Wanye has another son, Dwayne Carter III, from his relationship with radio host Sarah Vivan.
In early 2019, Wayne made his relationship with Australian plus-size model La’Tecia Thomas Instagram official.
They made a few appearances together, including on the red carpet for the rapper’s Funeral album release party, and fans noticed that she had been sporting a large diamond ring.
He even rapped about Thomas on his tracks “Stop Playin With Me” and “Not Me” with the lyrics: “Ooh, I got a plus sized model / But she my lil’ mama / I make her bust it open for me like a piñata / And as the world turned, she was my spin doctor” and “You know wifey from Australia / She said ‘Cheers, mate’ / Then we toast and see how you n—as tears taste.”
So far, neither Wayne nor his reps have publicly commented on his latest engagement news.
