Martha Stewart Addresses Plastic Sugery as She Turns 85
Martha Stewart has been a household name for decades. While much of the chatter about her has focused on her home efforts and, later, her legal drama, there has always been a bit of gossip about her looks, especially as she aged. Stewart, who just turned 85, looks remarkably youthful, leading to much speculation about her take on plastic surgery. She contends it is not for her.
What she’s actually had done
As Martha Stewart marks her 85th birthday, she’s once again addressing the gossip about her plastic surgery, insisting again she’s never had it. In a new chat with People, Stewart said that plastic surgery has never been part of her routine. “I have not had any plastic surgery at all. I don’t think I need it,” she told the outlet. She has admitted to one visit to a plastic surgeon after an accident, but insists it was reconstructive, not cosmetic.
That doesn’t mean she hasn’t taken steps to maintain her looks, though. Stewart has had fillers, revealing that she works with a dermatologist every four months. The filler is intended to fill in fine lines and other signs of aging. She insists that beyond that, her youthful looks come down to genetics and lifestyle. She said, “I have good genes. My mom looked great at 95.” Stewart eats healthily, maintains an active lifestyle, and shies away from smoking and drinking, which she thinks has helped her maintain her appearance and health.
What she’s ruling out going forward
Now that Martha Stewart has marked a milestone birthday and addressed the plastic surgery again, she’s hoping to put the topic to bed. To finally end the debate, she even revealed what she would and would not be considering moving forward. She has no intention of suddenly going under the knife to enhance her appearance, opting instead to maintain non-invasive maintenance.
The stance is no different than the one she has maintained for years. Stewart revealed, “I’m not getting boobs done and hips and butts and stuff like that.” She insists she doesn’t even see the birthday as anything particularly troubling, insisting that it doesn’t faze her.

Stewart is currently single, after ending a long-term relationship with Charles Simonyi in 2008. The TV personality lives in Bedford, New York, and continues to work, despite her status as an octogenarian. She has one daughter and two grandchildren, and fills her time with business and family.
Before Simonyi, Stewart was married to Andrew Stewart. The pair wed in 1961 and finalized their divorce in 1990, though they separated a few years earlier.
The contentious divorce was the result of infidelity, with Stewart accusing her then-husband of having an affair with her assistant. He later went on to marry that assistant in 1993. Stewart also admitted to having a brief fling during her marriage, though she insists Andrew had multiple extra-marital affairs during their nearly 30 years together. She has previously expressed regret over the way the split played out, and her lack of relationship with Andrew since.
