‘Matlock’ Star David Del Rio’s Wife Reacts to Costar Leah Lewis’ Assault Allegations: ‘Disgusting’
David Del Rio’s wife Katherine Del Rio is standing by her man.
On October 9, Katherine’s husband was fired from Matlock after he was accused of sexually assaulting his costar Leah Lewis. In a series of now-deleted social media posts, Katherine lashed out at Lewis, who plays Sarah Franklin on the CBS legal drama.

In one post, Katherine shared a close-up photo of Lewis’ face on her Instagram Stories.
“This is the most disturbing human being I have ever met,” the mom of two wrote on the photo (via Deadline).
Del Rio, who played Billy Martinez on Matlock, was fired on October 2, the same day CBS received reports of his alleged assault of Lewis, which occurred on September 26. He was escorted off set by one of the show’s executive producers, Eric Christian Olsen, according to Deadline.
Lewis addressed the situation in a post on her Instagram Story on Thursday.
“Mom is here, we’re moving forward in love and strength. I’m in good hands,” she wrote. “Thank you to everybody for any kind of support and care. Truly, we’re moving forward in strength. Key word, strength. Please, the that be the take away.”
Katherine responded to that post with a mocking update of her own, sharing a photo of herself and her own mother on Instagram.
“Mom is here. We are moving forward in love and strength after what Leah did for our family. Thank you all for the love and support!” she wrote.

Katherine and David Del Rio married in 2018. They first met when she sought his autograph at the stage door following a performance of the hit Broadway musical In The Heights. They later connected in Los Angeles and began dating. Their first child, a daughter named Lilia, was born in 2023. They welcomed a second daughter, Coco, in January 2025.
The character of Billy Martinez will be written off of Matlock following Del Rio’s exit. The show has already wrapped filming on the first half of its second season and is heading into a pre-planned production hiatus, with filming set to resume after Thanksgiving. Matlock Season 2 premieres Sunday, October 12 on CBS.
David Del Rio has not commented on the assault allegations or his firing.
