The world was introduced to Meghan Markle when she and Prince Harry gave their first joint interview following the announcement that they were engaged.

During that sitdown, they talked about the ring Harry proposed with. It was designed by the prince himself and features a center cushion-cut diamond sourced from Botswana and diamonds on the sides from the late Princess Diana’s personal jewelry collection.

Over the years, Meghan has made a few upgrades to the ring she stacks with her wedding band. After the birth of their first child, she decided to wear an eternity band from her husband on that same finger as well. The traditional arrangement for stacking those rings is the wedding band first, followed by the engagement ring, and then the eternity band. But Meghan has decided to switch that up.

The way Meghan is wearing her engagement ring stack is getting attention

In a recent Instagram post shared by the Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, Meghan is seen scooping tea leaves with her left hand. That image reveals the unconventional ring arrangement: her engagement ring at the base, the eternity band in the middle, and her wedding band stacked on top.

The diamond experts at the jewelry retailer Steven Stone shared more details about her ring stack and how much each one costs.

Maxwell Stone told Showbiz Cheat Sheet: “Meghan often chooses to wear her engagement ring stack in a non-traditional way, a subtle yet meaningful reflection of both her and Prince Harry’s willingness to break from royal convention. Their choice to embrace individuality over tradition mirrors their bold, modern approach to life and their roles beyond the royal family.

“Prince Harry proposed to Meghan Markle in 2017 with a custom-designed three-stone engagement ring featuring a 3-carat cushion-cut diamond from Botswana and two smaller diamonds from Princess Diana’s jewellery collection. Over a year later, Meghan updated the ring by replacing the original yellow gold band with a diamond-studded one. The ring features high-quality stones with exceptional clarity, thus, I’d value it at approximately £120,000 ($159,000).”

Stone continued: “Meghan’s wedding band is made of Welsh gold gifted by the late Queen Elizabeth II. It was crafted from the same nugget of gold used for both her own and Kate Middleton’s rings. Worth around £10,000 ($13,000), it was made by Cleave & Company – the jeweller who also created Meghan’s engagement ring.

“Meghan’s eternity ring was a first anniversary gift from Prince Harry, first seen publicly at Trooping the Colour in 2019. Crafted with conflict-free diamonds, the ring holds special meaning as it features the birthstones of Meghan, Archie, and Harry – peridot, emerald, and sapphire – discreetly set on the underside. Each stone symbolises a unique aspect of their family bond, including protection, empowerment, and affection. I’d estimate it to be worth £80,000 ($106,000). Altogether, Meghan Markle’s engagement ring stack — no matter how she chooses to wear it — is worth an impressive £210,000 ($279,000).”

While Prince Harry’s wife has worn some rather inexpensive pieces in the past, the majority of her jewelry collection is fit for a princess (or duchess).

Fans were able to see her rocking several different pieces of her jewelry in her Netflix show With, Love, Meghan including a 14k gold and diamond constellation ring by Logan Hollowell, which retails for £1,600 ($1,950); her three-carat emerald cut diamond pinky ring estimated it to be worth £56,000 ($68,500); and an emerald choker from Logan Hollowell that retails for £3,869 ($4,736).

She also has some very valuable jewels that once belonged to Princess Diana including a pair of butterfly earrings, a gold bangle, and a Cartier watch, and her massive aquamarine ring that was a gift from Prince Harry.
