Miley Cyrus, who is now going professionally by Miley, has entered a new chapter in her career. She announced it with her newest single, Bass Persuades. The pop star released the song days after dropping her last name from her professional identity, and left her fans gushing about it.
The Grammy-winning singer shared a clip from the track on social media and stunned her fans. In the video, she could be seen wearing a black outfit while dancing on a city street. She was accompanied by a group of dancers who seemed to be dancing their hearts out. The clip reminded many of Michael Jackson’s music video for Thriller.
Miley’s fans were elated to see her in a new look. An Instagram user wrote, “Don’t mean to sound dramatic, but this song has already changed my life.” Another user gushed, “We finally have the rock album.” “This new track is dangerous, thank you for that. The Wrecking Ball singer dropped the single after her major announcement. She went to great lengths to change her name on social media as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the country singer took to his Instagram handle to share a throwback picture with his daughter and son, Braison. He extended his support to the Party in the USA crooner and wrote, “Family means more than ever now. I always called my little girl Miley. Just … Miley.”
The 65-year-old further shared his last conversation with his daughter. He wrote, “I told @miley yesterday I felt good about her going with her first name. I mentioned Dolly and Cher. Thinking about it more and more … Elvis… Prince …and so on.” He called the major change a “natural progression for an iconic superstar legend.” The singer also joked that if he had remained Cyrus for his entire career, then he may have done something great.
It was not the first time that Miley changed her name. Her real name used to be Destiny Hope Cyrus before she legally changed it. According to Hello!, Tish Cyrus once revealed, “Billy Ray came up” with her nickname Miley. “She always smiled when she was little, so we would call her smiley Miley, and it just stuck,” the 59-year-old continued.
Miley’s father also once gushed about how he was proud of her birth name. He shared the significance of her name and said, “She’s a giver. She believes that we’re all put here for a reason, and that’s to give back to our fellow man.”
He said that the name resembled her demeanor. Moreover, the country singer believed that Miley would always remain Destiny Hope to him. “She is a ray of sunshine. She is a special human being. She’s got a great heart,” he added.
