‘I’m Bitter’: Britney Spears Breaks Silence on Conservatorship With Emotional Message to Parents
Britney Spears has continued to use Instagram to share her thoughts and dance videos with fans. The pop star recently used the platform to speak out against her 13-year-long conservatorship once again as she danced in her black lingerie. She lashed out at her parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, and all the critics who called her “crazy” at the time.
Spears was legally unable to make her own financial decisions for more than 13 years. She won a court battle against her conservatorship in 2021. The Gimme More hitmaker often opened up about the hardships of being under the legal arrangement for year, as it also included her being unable to take a flight to meet a friend.
According to the Daily Mail, the pop star shared a racy clip of her dancing in a lacy two-piece. In the since-deleted caption, she recalled that she held her first $1 bill about five years ago. The Toxic crooner also mentioned that she worked for seven days a week for 15 years but could not be financially independent.
Spears noted that she was an “innocent girl who used to be famous and believed everything she was told.” She further penned, “He said the sky is yellow…so it must be yellow today….Hmmmmmm. When my name rises to the occasion, and why, damn, that’s when people take over, like my mamma and daddy did for 15 years, but dying and becoming an angel was not the part I felt victimized in.” “It was my intelligence, in my mind, in how broad and differently I used to think,” the singer added.
The 44-year-old continued to recall in her cryptic note how many people called her “crazy.” She claimed that she was not crazy but “f—— literally insane.” “Yes, I’m bitter, all the hours, seconds, time, and secretly, subconsciously knowing my capabilities as a woman,” Spears admitted.
Spears then gave details about the lingerie she wore in the clip on a trip. She also recalled buying a pair of shoes, saying that she felt like a six-year-old while doing so. “All of a sudden, my body shrunk four sizes. I felt like an elf, and my mind rocketed up like I was six years old again,” she penned.
The singer noted that since her freedom from conservatorship, she has taken many solo vacations. ”15 times a year, with two weeks on each trip, that’s a lot of alone time,” she shared. However, when she questioned her life choices of travelling alone, she soon overcame them.
While Spears continues her healing process with her dancing, she recently treated her fans by releasing a new song. According to People, the singer dropped a new song, She’ll Never Be Me, to celebrate 25 years of her self-titled third album.
She originally co-wrote the track with her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake for the album more than two decades ago. The song marks one of the first five tracks that Spears is releasing as part of the deluxe reissue of Britney. The other four tracks are: Am I a Sinner, When I Say So, My Big Secret, and Right Now. Back in 2022, she released another song, Hold Me Closer, with Elton John.
