Taylor Swift ‘Couldn’t Sleep’ for Months After a Celebrity Took a Tour Prank Too Far
Taylor Swift recently flew to Nashville to be honored for her country music. The pop star was recently inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. When Brad Paisley introduced her to the stage, she recalled a tour bus prank that she said had gone too far.
Swift and Paisley date back to the 2000s, when she served as an opening act for the country singer’s Bonfires & Amplifiers Tour. She also appeared as a background performer in his music video for Online. According to Page Six, she noted what caused a rift between her and Paisley for nearly two decades.
Paisley introduced the Love Story crooner to the stage on October 26. When she took to the podium, she said, “Brad Paisley, thank you so much for that induction.” The pop star then announced that she had been estranged from the Whiskey Lullaby singer since 2007.
She shared, “I’m really surprised to see you here actually, because we’ve been estranged since 2007.” “I think you know why,” the singer then quipped. The 36-year-old continued to share that Paisley once pulled off a prank that went wrong and left her with sleepless nights.
Swift recalled, “He took a tour prank too far, filled my entire tour bus with live crickets. Thousands of them. For months I couldn’t sleep. Just chirp. Chirp, chirp. Chirp. All night.” “I considered buying a pet lizard to eradicate the problem. It was a dark time,” the singer continued to share.
However, Paisley’s introduction for her at the event prompted her to move on from the prank gone wrong. She said, “But you know what, you did such an amazing job with that introduction; I think we can let bygones be bygones. Yeah, I think we’re good now.”
Swift, dressed in a mini burgundy floral velvet dress, expressed how elated she was to receive the honor. The Cruel Summer crooner recalled in her speech, “I started writing songs when I was a little kid and I knew from the time I wrote my first song that even if it couldn’t be my career, it would be my passion.” “It would be what I centered my entire life around,” the pop star continued.
She became the youngest singer to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. The 36-year-old reiterated that she was honored to join the “sacred club” at this point of her life. “It’s not lost on me how crazy this is,” she said, adding that she would always cherish the moment. The Opalite singer added that the honor will become one of those Nashville moments she will revisit on a rainy day.
Swift recently made her country music comeback with the Toy Story 5 song I Knew It, I Knew You. According to Vogue, she is eyeing an Academy Award with the new track. Co-written with Jack Antonoff, her longtime collaborator, her country song is one of the contenders for the 2027 Oscars Best Original Song.
The You Belong With Me singer appears to be working hard toward adding an Oscar feather to her hat. She performed the track at the Academy Museum Gala among many other chart toppers. However, the category nominations have not been announced yet. Her fans are also eagerly waiting for the singer to run for an Oscar.
