Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Scrapped a $7 Million Dangerous Wedding Plan for a Surprising Reason
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tied the knot on July 3, 2026, at Madison Square Garden. It has been more than three months since the couple’s nuptials, and their fans are still waiting to catch a glimpse. While the two have not treated their fans with pictures from their D-day, some details about the decor recently came out. One of them was also dangerous and could cost them millions.
Many noted that Madison Square Garden was a rather off-beat choice for a wedding venue. However, the couple spent tens of millions of dollars and transformed it into a wonderland. According to the Daily Mail, a source revealed that Swift and Kelce scrapped two ideas from their “whimsical forest” theme.
An insider shared, “When you’re talking about a billionaire in a billionaire wedding, you would think that anything you want, they can make it happen. And there were a lot of things that they actually had to cut back.” They further revealed that one plan that did not make it was the installation of a two-story carousel. However, its price tag did not allow the couple to have it at their wedding with around 1,000 guests.
“The carousel was going to be like $7 million,” the insider revealed. They added that even a single story of the structure would have cost the couple $3.5 million. Instead of adding the carnival-themed structure, they opted for a large peach tent for carnival games. These games included mini golf, cornhole, and others for guests to enjoy.
A well-known wedding planner, Tara Guérard, also chimed in to review the couple’s initial design. Guérard, who was not involved in the Swift-Kelce wedding planning, said that the pair made the right decision to scrap the carousel. She noted that it would have been hard to install at the venue.
“I also think that it’s just too young. They’re not ten years old, and your guests aren’t ten years old, and it’s not a children’s party. I personally just don’t think it’s necessarily appropriate for a wedding,” the planner said. The initial plan also included an artificial pond built in the arena for the nuptials. However, the couple had to give it a pass as the design would have required “too much engineering.”
The insider explained, “The edges weren’t tall enough, and it would be really easy to fall over.” The pond was set to be built under the altar and could have been hazardous for the special occasion. Eventually, that area was covered with more greenery.
Swift’s trusted place was used to build many decor items: Rock Litiz. “We did do a bunch of test builds and walk-throughs there,” the source shared. One of the most iconic props at the wedding was the couple’s monogram “T&T” with two hearts.
The source revealed that Swift came up with the idea to have the wedding at MSG. It came out of her love for New York and its accessibility. She had the sports arena turn into a forest wonderland with faux trees, flowers, and vines. “The plants, the lushness were definitely spearheaded by [Swift],” the insider said. The altar was also reportedly covered in vines and foliage to complement the theme.
