Ariana Grande Debuts a Dramatic Bob After Ditching Her Iconic Ponytail, and Fans Are Losing It
Ariana Grande is currently away from the limelight and leading a rather low-key life. Despite being on a hiatus, the singer is ensuring she blows away her fans’ minds. She recently did so by chopping off her signature ponytail and debuting a bob hairdo.
The Positions crooner took to her social media handle to share pictures of her new look. According to USA Today, she amazed her fans with the transformation with a carousel of selfies. Wearing a baby pink dress, she also tied a matching satin ribbon around her neck. Sharing the pictures, Grande simply added a heart emoticon.
The post received more than 2.5 million likes, with fans sharing their views on her new look. A fan penned, “I’m cryingggggggggg !!!! So so pretty,” while another wrote, “gorgeous girl with a gorgeous bob.” “Could u get any cuter???” a third one noted.
A fourth Instagram user penned, “Peanut— these pics melt me.” Grande went to hairstylist Brandon Pietsch to chop off her hair into a bob hairdo. Reacting to her new look, the hairstylist wrote, “The ponytail is taking a hiatus.”
Grande was known for flaunting her thick high ponytail. However, she never shied away from admitting that she used extensions to make the ponytails look flawless. According to Business Insider, the 33-year-old once explained why she always ties her hair in a ponytail. She revealed that the reason was her damaged hair.
The Wicked star explained in a social media post that her natural hair looks ratchet, which is why she hides it in ponytails. “I wear it in a ponytail because my actual hair is so broken that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let it down,” the pop star wrote. She continued to note, “It’s all that works for now (AND I’m comfortable for the first time in years).”
What damaged her hair? Continuous bleaching and hair coloring. Her lengthy post came after she was widely trolled for her hair and was often questioned whether it was real. She explained that she was prompted to speak about the situation of her hair after people gave her a hard time. “I had to bleach my hair and dye it red every other week for the first 4 years of playing Cat… as one would assume, that completely destroyed my hair. I now wear a wig on Sam & Cat,” Grande added.
She also gave details about her real hair at the time, saying that they were back to brown after multiple bleaching sessions. Her damaged hair gave her a hard time achieving a desired hairdo. “I tried wigs; they looked RIDICULOUS,” she explained. She did not even like a weave, and wanted to “rip my scalp off” after wearing it.
Grande revealed that growing her natural hair back was “even more difficult” for her. She exclaimed that she had to wait “forever” to grow them back and wear more fake extensions “than every drag queen on earth combined.”
Grande ended her post by asking people to stop criticizing her hairstyle. She joked that anyone bothered by her extensions could simply look away, adding, “IT’S JUST HAIR AFTER ALL.” She also reminded fans that there were more important things to focus on than her appearance.
