Taylor Swift’s trophy cabinet must be overflowing with the number of accolades the songstress has won throughout her career. From her 14 Grammy Awards to 33 MTV VMAs wins, the pop star has achieved a lot with her music. However, her ambition for an Oscar may put miles between her and her NFL star husband Travis Kelce.

According to Marca, journalist Rob Shuter claimed that the Cruel Summer crooner may skip the Kansas City Chiefs’ home game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. The potential turn of events would break the Love Story star’s streak of attending the team’s 14 consecutive home games.

She has been a regular at Chiefs’ matches at Arrowhead Stadium ever since she started dating the NFL star. The pop star last missed a home game on December 8, 2024, for her final show of Eras Tour in Vancouver. Her absence at the next game could also impact its television ratings. However, Swift has her own reason, and it reportedly has a lot to do with a career milestone.

The Patient Zero singer is all set to perform at the Academy Museum Gala on October 17. Sources told Shuter that Swift is eyeing her first Oscar win with her Toy Story 5 song I Knew It, I Knew You. The insider said, “Taylor has Grammys, sold-out stadiums and billions of dollars. But there’s one thing missing from her trophy cabinet — an Oscar.” “And she wants one badly,” they added.

The source claimed that Steven Spielberg, who already shares a close bond with Swift, could be her key to the new achievement. The celebrated director is a co-chair at the Gala, alongside his wife, Kate Capshaw. “Steven opens doors that even Taylor can’t open herself,” the insider suggested.

They claimed that her upcoming performance is not just another stage show for Swift. Instead, it is her chance to impress those who vote for Oscars.

Shuter’s source further pointed out that Swift’s Saturday performance could keep her from cheering for her husband. “Taylor loves cheering for Travis, but this weekend is about Taylor,” the insider claimed. They continued to point out that the couple has their individual careers and “right now, hers involves winning an Oscar.”

If the song is nominated, it would mark Swift’s first-ever Academy Award nomination. The source said, “Taylor isn’t going to this gala just to sing,” before adding, “She’s going to make sure Hollywood takes her seriously.”

According to Variety, the Toy Story 5 song could be Swift’s chance to finally bag an Oscar. The news outlet previously explained that the track brought the You Belong With Me crooner back to her roots in country music. While Swift had her songs be a part of various movies, they never fulfilled her Oscar dream.

However, the movie franchise is no stranger to the Oscars. Its musical legacy includes the tracks You’ve Got a Friend in Me, When She Loved Me, We Belong Together, and more. Swift’s song has joined the likes of these tracks, as We Belong Together also earned Randy Newman an Oscar win.

However, the news outlet noted that Swift’s popularity cannot help her win the award. The song first needs to make it to the Academy’s shortlist.
