‘Below Deck’ Star Nathan Gallagher Convicted in Absentia on Domestic Violence Charges After Skipping Sydney Court

Below Deck star Nathan Gallagher failed to appear at a scheduled court date over his domestic violence arrest. Police arrested Gallagher in 2025 after he allegedly choked his partner and Below Deck co-star, Gael Cameron. His failure to appear in court did not help him dodge a conviction. A judge convicted him in absentia.

Nathan Gallagher skipped his court date in Australia

In December 2025, Gallagher allegedly choked and suffocated Cameron during an argument at their home in Sydney.

“During the argument, he used one hand to cover mouth and nose of victim,” the police fact sheet said, per The Sydney Morning Herald. “The victim tried to pull away but accused persisted and continued to cover her mouth, causing the victim to be unable to breathe at certain points.”

The documents also say that he hit her and further choked her in the same room as their child.

“The accused continued to restrict the victim’s breathing by holding both hands over the victim’s mouth, and the victim has begun screaming, and the victim believes that the accused did not want her to be heard by neighbours.”

Gallagher failed to appear at his court date. The prosecutor and judge noted that he is no longer in Australia. As a result, the judge convicted him in absentia.

“The defendant doesn’t have any prior criminal history but the offences are very serious, with significant maximum penalties and context of DV committed in the home,” Judge Janine Lacy said. “I record a conviction and issue a [arrest] warrant.”

This is not the first time Nathan Gallagher skipped a court date

The warrant is Gallagher’s second. In 2022, police arrested him for assaulting a man in Dungloe, Ireland. The Dungloe District Court issued a warrant for his arrest on April 8, 2025, after he failed to appear for a scheduled court date.

Police asked for help locating him

While the judge and prosecution noted that Gallagher is currently abroad, they are currently seeking to locate him.

“Have you seen Nathan Gallagher?” reads a post from the NSW Police Force. “A warrant has been issued for the 28-year-old’s arrest. He is known to frequent the Ermington and Melrose Park areas, and is believed to be offshore. Anyone with information into his whereabouts is urged not to approach him, but to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.”

After news broke, Gallagher issued a statement saying that he wasn’t perfect, but claimed he had evidence and video footage from the night in question.
