When does ‘Sweet Magnolias’ Season 5 premiere?
Sweet Magnolias Season 5 premieres June 11 on Netflix. All 10 episodes will be available to stream on that date.
Is there a trailer for the new season of ‘Sweet Magnolias’?
Yes! Netflix’s teaser for the fifth season of the romantic drama sees Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue strolling the streets of Manhattan. They stop outside of Tiffany & Co., where the bride-to-be Helen is considering making a purchase.
“Oh, this could very well be the something blue I need to complete my wedding ensemble,” she says.
“You don’t have your dress yes,” Dana Sue points out.
“She’s got the man,” Maddie chimes in. “Everything else is the details.”
After years of romantic heartbreak, Helen seems to be on verge of happily ever after. But she’s nervous that “something [is] going to go wrong” before she and Erik (Dion Johnstone) say “I do.”
Meanwhile, Dana Sue’s relationship with Ronnie (Brandon Quinn) has hit another rough patch, and she worries their marriage is like a balloon that’s “about to pop.” As for Maddie, she’s thrilled to be pursuing her dreams, but she’s struggling with missing everything that she’s left behind. Fortunately, she has husband Cal (Justin Bruening) to lean on for support.
Whatever life throws in this trio’s way this season, they’re confident they’ll be able to overcome it, thanks to their friendship.
“As much as we would like life to be a smooth path, it’s like peaks and valleys,” Helen says. “It’s up to us to hold on to each other.”
Which cast members are back for ‘Sweet Magnolias’ Season 5?
Of course, Swisher, Headley, and Elliott are back as the core trio of Magnolias in season 5. Bruening, Johnstone, and Quinn also return as their respective partners.
The trailer also features glimpses of other familiar Serenity faces, including Dana Sue’s daughter Annie (Anneliese Judge) and Maddie’s son Kyle (Logan Allen). Brittany L. Smith returns as Peggy, Jamie Lynn Spears as Noreen, Chris Medlin as Isaac, and Caroline Lagerfelt as Maddie’s mom Paula.
New cast members include Jamie-Lynn Sigler as Nell Winters, a writer whom Maddie befriends in New York; Janice Wesley as Miss Eustice, a town matron of Serenity; Courtney Grace as Courtney Sinclair, Ronnie’s new business partner; and John Gabriel Rodriquez as Clark Bellson, a rival Serenity business owner who makes like complicated for the Magnolias. Other new cast members include Aidan Merwarth as Noah Wharton, Austin Woods as Blake Monaghan, and Iman Benson as Jessica Whitley, Erik’s niece.
One fan-favorite character will not be back in Sweet Magnolias Season 5. Carson Rowland, who played Maddie’s elder son Ty, will not appear in the new episodes. Chris Klein also will not return, as his character, Maddie’s ex Bill Townsend, was killed off in season 4.
