Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s legal battle over their French winery Château Miraval has taken another turn. The actress’s lawyers recently accused Pitt of trying to control her and the legal battle after her courthouse victory. He also demanded her financial records from years after she filed for divorce.

According to the Daily Mail, the new update came after a judge denied Pitt’s requests for Jolie to produce her financial records in a tentative ruling earlier this week. However, the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star was allowed to renew the motion and demand Jolie’s “income or financial condition” from 2017 to 2019.

The motions were filed after Jolie claimed she had to put her acting career on hold after her divorce. Therefore, she claimed that she had forgone her “years of compensation.” “Mr. Pitt’s unyielding demand for harassing information is just the latest manifestation of his attempts to control her and the narratives in this case,” her lawyers’ court filings read.

They further noted that Jolie always wanted to “untangle her personal and financial life from her ex-husband.” The Maleficent star’s lawyers argued that Pitt did not do the “right thing” and buy her out at an agreed price. Instead, they claimed that “Mr. Pitt at the last minute tried to use her exit from Miraval as leverage to force her to sign an NDA to cover up his abuse of her and their children.”

Jolie’s lawyers noted that the legal case was about their French estate. However, they claimed that Pitt attempted to shape the narrative in a different way. He brought up her “personal income from five years before she sold her interest” in the case.

Jolie allegedly agreed to provide her financial records from 2017 to 2021. However, she apparently showed her income for only two years: 2020 and 2021.

Pitt’s previous court filings claimed that Jolie needed to sell her part of the French winery to obtain “financial independence.” The filing also claimed that the actress rejected a proposal to confirm that she was not under any kind of “economic pressure” before 2020. Moreover, that her ex-husband did not exert “economic coercion on her” for two years before that time.

According to Glamour, Jolie and Pitt first met on the sets of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2004. At the time, the Troy star was still married to his first wife, Jennifer Aniston. In January of the following year, the Fight Club star and Friends actress announced their separation. A year later, Jolie confirmed her first pregnancy with Pitt.

In the following years, the actor also adopted two of Jolie’s children. They adopted their fourth child together from Vietnam and later welcomed their twins. After years of dating and growing a family, the couple got engaged in 2012 and tied the knot at their French estate in 2014.

The former couple called it quits in 2016 when Jolie filed for divorce after an alleged incident on a private plane. Their legal battle went on for years until a judge declared them legally single in 2019. However, it did not end their dispute over the European estate.

Jolie and Pitt share their six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne. All six children are reportedly estranged from their father. Most of them have also legally dropped Pitt from their last names.
