Olivia Rodrigo stepped out in New York City wearing a boho-grunge autumn ensemble while running errands on a day off from The Unraveled Tour.

The “Drivers License” singer’s made headlines when she stepped out on Oct. 6 for her outfit choice. She sported a Frankies Bikinis Aspen Cotton Knit Poncho Black layered over a striped long-sleeve tee. Rodrigo paired that with a Brandy Melville Justine skirt and Frye Company Campus 14L Boots in black. And now her boho look is pushing Google search engines into overdrive.

Analysis by Free Spirited Clothing using Glimpse, found that Google searches for “boho style” have risen 46% over the past year with an estimated 171,000 searches for the term in the past month, as Olivia Rodrigo and other stars like Dakota Johnson and Jennifer Lawrence offer fresh inspiration for wearing the aesthetic into the fall season. Johnson celebrated her birthday in a black lace Stella McCartney dress and leather outerwear, while Lawrence donned a sheer blouse and floral trousers to that same dinner.

Their looks have echoed the boho style Nicole Kidman opted for during her press tour in the summer.

According to Abby Rafer, spokesperson at Free Spirited Clothing, “Boho never completely disappears, but we’re seeing clear signs that people are interested in it again. The latest figures show searches are 46% higher than a year ago. Autumn is probably when boho becomes most interesting because you can start layering it. An oversized knit, a flowing skirt or a printed tee can work with the boots and jackets you already own.”

Rafer added that the style also emcompasses what Taylor Swift wore just days ago when she stepped out in the Big Apple to celebrate her husband, Travis Kelce‘s birthday. The singer donned a black cashmere and lace Simkhai midi dress with an oversized leather bomber jacket.

Rafer noted, “A lace detail or a flowing hem can give an outfit that slightly witchy feel. Add a heavier knit or a simple jacket and it becomes much easier to wear through autumn. You also don’t have to completely change how you dress to tap into it. It could be a paisley print, washed-colour tee, flowing sleeve, tie-dye piece or something with a more handcrafted finish.”

If you already own some boho pieces of your own, Rafer shared how you can incorporate those into the changing autumn weather, explaining, “If you already have a flowing or printed summer dress, try it with opaque tights, boots and a cardigan. You keep the movement and pattern that make it feel bohemian, while making the outfit more useful for colder days.”

She also said don’t be afraid to use tie-dye with deep colors because “People still hear tie-dye and immediately picture a brightly coloured festival T-shirt. That’s only one version of it. Deeper reds, greens, blues and more washed-out color combinations work incredibly well going into autumn. A muted tie-dye tee under a plain cardigan, with dark denim and boots, is a simple way to wear it. Let the print be the focus and keep the other pieces straightforward.”
