‘It’s Insulting!’ Kylie Jenner’s Reported $5 Million Paycheck Leaves Veteran Supermodels Fuming
Kylie Jenner made her Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show debut in a headline-making look, wearing the brand’s $50 million Fantasy Bra. But a separate report has sparked debate over how much the beauty mogul was allegedly paid for her brief runway appearance, with an anonymous source claiming she earned more than established supermodels, including Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid.
According to Rob Shuter’s Substack Naughty But Nice, an insider revealed that Jenner was paid more than models who have worked for years in the industry. The list included some of the biggest names who have walked for VS multiple times. Speaking of the paycheck, the insider revealed that it was $5 million for nearly five minutes of work.
“Kylie got the biggest check, and the supermodels are furious,” the source revealed, before adding that it was insulting for the women in the industry. The insider added, “These women spent decades building their careers. Kylie shows up for five minutes, collects millions and walks away. It’s insulting!”
Jenner’s runway walk became iconic as she wore a $50 million Fantasy Bra made entirely with gold and diamonds. Made by Jacob & Co., the bejewelled bra had more than 4,000 diamonds along with a stunning yellow piece. Her surprise appearance soon turned into a backlash as many criticized VS for not choosing an OG Angel to walk the runway.
The hefty paycheck was not the only VIP treatment that Jenner received. “Kylie had her own private dressing room, personal security and unlimited VIP tickets,” the insider told Shuter. They added, “Everyone else followed the rules. Kylie was treated like she owned the place!”
The brand’s preference for a reality star over its models, who have walked for them for decades, did not sit well with many. “Victoria’s Secret used to celebrate supermodels. Now it celebrates Instagram followers,” the insider fumed. They added, “The women who built this brand are watching a reality star become its highest-paid attraction!
The lingerie brand did not disclose the salaries it pays to its models. Moreover, the brand has remained tight-lipped amid the backlash. The insider chimed in to say about the salary difference, saying, “Being a supermodel doesn’t pay nearly as well as being a Kardashian!”
Former model Adrianne Curry also slammed the 29-year-old, exclaiming that she is not a model. According to Page Six, the first winner of America’s Next Top Model, Curry fumed, “I don’t know why they put her in the mega bra.”
She continued to claim that the Fantasy Bra is for the “Belle of the ball.” “That is for the top Victoria’s Secret Angel. “That is like winning homecoming queen, and they just give it to Jenner,” she added. The former model continued to take a dig at the lingerie brand, saying that it has turned into a joke. “In 2010, I would say Victoria’s Secret meant something. Now it’s meaningless,” she said.
Curry cited an example of Adriana Lima, who was discovered while walking in Brazil. “She wasn’t a big influencer. No one knew her,” the ex-model argued. The model added that the brand must scout new talent and not rely on influencers.
Some Reddit users also slammed Jenner for stepping into her sister Kendall Jenner’s area of expertise. The supermodel has also walked the VS runway multiple times. However, she was nowhere to be seen during her sister’s debut.
