Kim Kardashian is one of the most famous women in the world. She also shares four children with rapper Kanye West, whose public controversies have frequently drawn attention online. But the reality star has a way of shielding her children from negative stories about their parents: a household ‘lockdown.’

The reality TV star rose to fame after working for Paris Hilton and later starring in the family reality TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians. She has potentially lived a significant part of her life before the camera. From her marriages to divorces, she discussed everything with her family while a crew filmed her conversation.

She is no stranger to criticism and negative stories about her. Her tumultuous marriage with West also drew a lot of public attention. According to People, when the entire world may know about the news segments, her children remain strangers to it. Sharing her process in the new book, Citizen Kim, she said, “My whole household knows what a ‘lockdown’ means if I text it. Like, ‘We’re on lockdown.’”

The 46-year-old continued to explain, “No TVs, just movies. No radio, just plug in a phone for music in the car. Not even, like, Sirius XM, because they talk about current events in real time.” She asserted that her children do not have to be exposed to the harmful stories about their parents.

Despite their messy divorce, Kardashian and West continue to co-parent their children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. However, it is not always easy for the mother of four. Her relationship with her ex-husband worsened with his public outbursts about their marriage. Moreover, after he attempted to win her back when she was dating Pete Davidson.

At one point in the book, the beauty mogul called co-parenting with the I Wonder crooner a “burden.” She noted that although she worries about Ye all the time, she still tries to protect him. “That’s a big burden of having kids with someone who you don’t necessarily get along with. My kids would never know that,” Kardashian said.

She revealed how she strives hard to better her bond with West, even if it means forgetting his brutal comments about her. In doing so, she does not forget about herself. “I have to be realistic, and my therapist definitely tells me, ‘Your boundaries have to go up,’ but we manage to co-parent without too much conflict,” Kardashian shared.

The Kardashians star revealed that co-parenting has been “pretty smooth” lately, as she does not interact with her ex-husband much. When she has to reach him, she either does that via his wife, Bianca Censori, or his manager. Despite the distance, she has maintained a cordial relationship with his family.

According to Us Weekly, the beauty mogul does not restrict her ex-husband from spending holidays with their children. She revealed that she insists that he come by her house for a sleepover with the kids. To make matters easy, she also offers to leave the house.

Kardashian said, “Last Christmas, I said, ‘Sleep over on Christmas Eve. Bring your girlfriend.’ I’m easy! ‘Let’s all do Christmas together.’” The All’s Fair star also shared she was adamant about doing the same again this year.
