Paul George has spent well over a decade as one of the NBA‘s premier two-way players, earning a reputation for his elite scoring ability, perimeter defense, and smooth all-around game.

He was selected by the Indiana Pacers with the 10th overall pick in the 2010 draft. That year, he signed a rookie-scale contract with the team. George’s deal featured two fully guaranteed years followed by two team-option years and was worth $10.5 million.

The current Boston Celtics star recounted his first big purchase after signing that deal and admitted that he decided to purchase a car on eBay.

“I had just made my deal, right? And I was still trying to be cheap at the same time. This is how cheap I was. My a** went on eBay to look up Ferraris,” PG recalled during an episode of his podcast. “I swear. I bought my first Ferrari on eBay.

“I was like, ‘Damn, I want one.’ I bought a Ferrari F430. I bought an all-black F430. I was going through them. It had low mileage. The dude was actually a cool dude. He owned a ton of cars. He had a huge car collection. He was like, ‘I’ll sell it to you.’ He was a fan. So I got it for the low.”

George continued, “It was damn near brand new. And I got it for the low. I loved it. I loved it because, to what I told you … What was that thing that symbolized you made it? For me, as a kid, it was a Ferrari. I made it. You can’t tell me nothing. ”

During his career, George also played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Philadelphia 76ers before he was traded to the Celtics in the 2025-26 offseason. The nine-time All-Star has built significant wealth not just through NBA contracts but also endorsement deals and business ventures. George has long been one of Nike’s signature athletes, with several successful editions of his “PG” signature basketball shoes.

He’s made more than $400 million in NBA salary earnings, along with endorsement income from the sneaker giant and other corporate partnerships. According to Celebrity Net Worth, George’s estimated net worth today is around $110 million.

Perhaps there’s something to be said for his eBay financial decision all those years ago as George remains one of the wealthiest active players in professional basketball.
