John Edward is one of the best-known psychic mediums in the U.S. He’s starred in the shows Crossing Over With John Edward and John Edward Cross Country, in addition to making appearances on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Tamron Hall, Larry King Live, and many other programs. It would be fair to call him a genuine psychic celebrity. But when it comes to reading other stars, Edward says, ‘No thanks.’

Edward was recently a guest on The Mitch Churi Chat Show, where he opened up about his experience channeling “the other side.” While he enjoys helping people connect with deceased loved ones, he said he doesn’t have much interest in working with celebrities.

“You’ve worked with some big names,” Churi said during his chat with Edward.

“Sure,” Edward replied. (In addition to his many talk show appearances, he’s appeared on Keeping Up With the Kardashians and even played himself in an episode of Will & Grace.

“I have a philosophy though when it comes to that,” he continued. “And that is like, they’re regular people. But I don’t enjoy reading celebrities.”

That’s not true for all people in his field. Edward shared an anecdote about having meal with a well-known psychic in the U.K.

“He said to me, ‘Who is your must-read?’” Edward recalled. At first, he didn’t understand the question. When his fellow medium explained that he was asking about his must-read celebrity, Edward’s reply was simple: “No one.”

“He looked at me like, ‘What?’ I go, ‘Zero.’ There’s not a celebrity that I want to meet that I want to read for. Zero,” he said.

“If I have the opportunity to do a reading for somebody, I want to read a parent who’s lost a child where I can make a difference,” Edward added. “Not interested in celebrities.”

The ‘Chasing Evil’ author recounts his partnership with a skeptical FBI agent

In addition to helping everyday people reconnect with those they’ve lost, Edward has also put his unique skills to work helping law enforcement. In his latest book, Chasing Evil, he and FBI agent Bob Hilland recount their unusual partnership. Hilland was a skeptic who was initially convinced Edward was conning people. But after an impressive reading, he was convinced his psychic abilities were legit. For years, the pair kept their working relationship before finally feeling safe to go public.

“The journey is not just about true crime meeting supernatural,” Edward said. “It’s actually this cynical FBI guy kind of going on a spiritual walkabout and discovering this other whole world of energy.”
