Is it truly possible to communicate with the dead? Whether you’re a true believer in the ability of some people to speak with those who are no longer with us, or if you’re firmly in the skeptic camp, there’s no doubt that the phenomena of psychic mediums, clairvoyants, and others who claim to have a sixth sense can make for compelling TV. 

Psychic mediums have been a television fixture for years, with people like Syliva Browne and Arthur Ford appearing on talk shows and other programs where they demonstrated their purported ability to speak to the dead. But the growth of reality TV ushered in a wave of onscreen psychics. Here are some of the best-known psychic medium reality TV shows.

When it comes to TV mediums, none shine brighter (or have higher hair) than Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s Long Island Medium. The long-running show followed Caputo as she delivered both private and group readings, in addition to showcasing her family life. It aired for 14 seasons before it ended in 2019. Most episodes are streaming on HBO Max. And if that’s not enough for you, you can also check out her 2024 Lifetime series, Theresa Caputo: Raising Spirits. It’s streaming for free on The Roku Channel. 

‘Mama Medium’ 

Long Island Medium wasn’t TLC’s only psychic medium series. In 2018, the network aired Mama Medium. It followed Jennie Marie, an upstate New York woman who can not only speak to the dead, but also claims to be able to connect with people who are otherwise can’t communicate for themselves. Mama Medium is streaming for free on Spectrum.

‘Hollywood Medium With Tyler Henry’ 

Tyler Henry, a clairvoyant medium, starred in this E! series which aired from 2016 to 2019. In each episode, Henry meets one-on-one with celebrities to deliver messages from departed loved ones. Guests included Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Jodie Sweetin, Tiffany Haddish, Tamra Judge, and many others. Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry is streaming for free on Fandango and Spectrum. Episodes are also available for purchase on Prime Video and Apple TV. 

After his E! show ended, Henry went on to star in Life After Death With Tyler Henry, which is streaming on Netflix, as well as the 2024 Netflix special Live From the Other Side With Tyler Henry. 

‘Meet the Frasers’ 

Psychic Medium Matt Fraser stars in this E! Series, which follows his life with this then-girlfriend (now wife), a pageant queen named Alexis, in Rhode Island. It’s streaming for free on Fandango, with episodes available to purchase on Prime Video and Apple TV.

‘The Haunting Of…’ 

Have you ever had a spooky encounter? These celebrities certainly have. In this series, psychic medium Kim Russo takes celebrities, including Regis Philbin, Fairuza Balk, and Johnny Weir, back to the locations of their real-life ghostly experiences to uncover the supernatural story behind them. The Haunting Of… is streaming for free on Tubi.

‘Seatbelt Psychic’ 

Medium Thomas John stars in Seatbelt Psychic, a short-lived series for Lifetime. In the show, he works as a rideshare driver who gifts his passengers with a free spiritual reading. It’s streaming for free on Prime Video.
