Can psychics really predict the future? Those who have this special gift claim to have insight into what the future holds for the rest of us. Some of them even say they can see what the stars hold for celebrities.

Back in 2016, Thomas John, aka the Manhattan Medium, sat down with Cosmopolitan to share his predictions for some of Hollywood’s hottest couples, including Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris and Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. While one of his predictions was startlingly accurate, a few missed the mark in a big way. Keep reading to see if John accurately foresaw what was to come for these eight celeb couples.  

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber

What the psychic said: “She’s never going to be back with him,” John predicted of Gomez’s future with Bieber. He added that he saw marriage and motherhood in the cards for the former Disney Channel star, while Bieber would struggle in both his personal life and career. 

Was is accurate? Sort of. Gomez and Bieber rekindled their on-again, off-again relationship in 2017 before finally breaking up for good. He said “I do” to Hailey Baldwin in 2018; they welcomed a baby in 2024. Meanwhile, Gomez did become a Mrs. as predicted, tying the knot with Benny Blanco in 2025. The couple doesn’t have kids but have said they hope to start a family. 

Beyoncé and Jay Z

What the psychic said: “I see them having another baby,” John said of Beyoncé and Jay-Z. “I don’t see them splitting up. I don’t feel like it’s internally a very happy relationship, but I don’t see them going toward a divorce. They may talk about it, but I don’t feel like they’re going to go that route.”

Was it accurate? This prediction was pretty much spot on. In February 2017, Beyoncé announced she was expecting twins with Jay-Z. As for a divorce, that doesn’t appear to be in the cards for this powerful pair. 

Kylie Jenner and Tyga 

What the psychic said: “I see [Kylie] getting engaged … this is more like next year. I don’t see it being with Tyga though,” John shared. “They’re not going to last.”

Was it accurate? Not exactly. John made the right call when it came to Jenner’s future with Tyga – they split in April 2017. But the makeup mogul hasn’t gotten engaged. Nor did the psychic predict that she’d soon become a mom to two kids with Travis Scott, or her relationship with Timothée Chalamet.

Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian 

What the psychic said: John noted that Kardashian and Blac Chyna were an “odd pairing,” but it was one he thought would work. “I think they’re going to last,” he said. “I actually see them being together for a very long time. I feel like they’re very codependent.”

Was it accurate? No. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star did have a baby, Dream, with Chyna in 2017. But the romance didn’t last. Their relationship turned contentious, with Chyna even suing her ex’s family. Yet they seem to have put the past behind them and are now focused on peacefully co-parenting their daughter. Earlier this year, they showed their support for each other in social media posts. 

Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris 

What the psychic said: “I see that relationship continuing, but I don’t see them getting married or engaged … they’re going to split off within the next six to nine months or so,” John said. 

Was it accurate? Not really. John did accurately predicted Swift’s split from her DJ boyfriend, but it happened much sooner than he expected. The psychic made his prediction in May 2016. By early June, they were done and Swift had started dating actor Tom Hiddleston, whom she met at the 2016 Met Gala the previous month, while she was still involved with Harris.  

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West 

What the psychic said: John’s prediction for the reality star and the rapper was short but sweet: “They’ll stay together.”

Was it accurate? Up to a point. West and Kardashian did stay together for several years after John’s prediction, even welcoming a third child in 2018 and a fourth in 2019. But cracks started to emerge around 2020, as West began making headlines more for his personal struggles and outrageous statements than for his music. The SKIMS mogul filed for divorce in early 2021.

What the psychic said: “I don’t see them reconciling,” John said of Kardashian and her NBA star ex-boyfriend. “I mean, they’re always going to be friends and I see them always connected to one another, but I don’t see them getting back into a relationship.”

Was it accurate? This prediction was mostly a miss. Kardashian and Odom finalized their divorce in late 2016. After that, they didn’t see each other for years. However, they did reunite in 2024 in an encounter that was filmed for The Kardashians. At the time, there didn’t seem to be any bad blood between the exes. But that changed when Odom implied in his 2026 documentary that he was only with Kardashian for the fame. She responded by cutting him off entirely, saying in an episode of her podcast that “the bridge is burned.” 

Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid 

What the psychic said: “I don’t see them lasting,” John said of the One Direction member and his model girlfriend. “They’re going to break up some time in the next year.”

Was it accurate? John was correct that this relationship wouldn’t last, but the breakup came years after he predicted. Hadid and Malik split briefly in 2018 and 2019 but reconciled both times. They welcomed a baby in September 2020 but broke up for good in October 2021.
