Brittany Cartwright Was Granted a Temporary Restraining Order
The saga of Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s divorce just got messier, just when that didn’t seem possible. On August 27, Cartwright filed paperwork for a temporary restraining order against Taylor. In her court declaration, Cartwright accused Taylor of abusing her throughout their relationship in multiple ways. She said 47-year-old Jax used a pattern of coercive control and gaslighting to set the tone of their courtship, including while they were dating and then during their marriage. She said he destroyed property and made threats against her multiple times during their romance.
Cartwright filed audio recordings and transcripts to support her claims that Taylor once threatened to “gut” her and kill her during an argument. She also alleged that he became physically aggressive during an incident involving furniture being thrown. She said she was injured in the melee.
A judge granted the temporary order. Taylor issued a statement following the judge’s ruling, claiming that while he made mistakes during their relationship, he disputes some of the allegations Cartwright presented to a judge. He went on to say that the full context and evidence would be addressed in court.
The Filing adds more fuel to an already contentious split
The timing of Brittany Cartwright’s filing is interesting to those who have been following their split drama from the start. The restraining order request comes just days after Taylor publicly accused Cartwright of attempting to sabotage his career. Taylor made the lofty claim in a now-deleted Instagram Story. Taylor said her actions had cost him professional opportunities. He also accused Cartwright of capitalizing on a fake SmartWater ad he posted on Instagram earlier this summer.
That isn’t all that has been happening, either. In July, Taylor was photographed vacationing with Lori Krebs, Cartwright’s longtime former publicist and close friend. Cartwright described the relationship as a profound betrayal, saying Krebs had been deeply involved in her life and had supported her during the breakup. Taylor later confirmed that he and Krebs were in a relationship.
Cartwright and Taylor separated in 2024, and Cartwright filed for divorce that August. Although they reached a custody agreement earlier this year, their divorce has remained unresolved, and it looks like they are no closer to a resolution than when this all started.
