Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s relationship may have been doomed from the start. 

The former Vanderpump Rules stars have been making headlines following the news that Jax is dating Lori Krebs, a publicist who represented both him and his estranged wife. While Jax and Brittany split up in February 2024, the news that he’s embarked on a relationship with Krebs has hit Brittany hard. On Watch What Happens Live, she told Andy Cohen that while she doesn’t care what Jax does, she does feel betrayed by Krebs, whom she considered a friend. 

The latest twist in Brittany and Jax’s tumultuous relationship (the pair have yet to finalize their divorce) is just more proof that they are better off apart. And based on their astrological charts, it’s no surprise that things ended they way they did.

Brittany is an Aquarius, while Jax is a Cancer. They represent a classic Air and Water collision. Each sees the world and approaches relationships from a different viewpoint, and their fundamental traits inevitably sparked serious conflict.

First, there’s the battle of logic versus emotion. Aquarians like Brittany tend to move through the world based on logical thinking, objectivity, and mental independence. Cancers like Jax are ruled by the Moon. They tend to be driven by shifting emotions, nostalgia, and moods. When there’s a conflict, an Aquarius wants to use clear, rational communication to clear the air. As Vanderpump Rules viewers know, conflict emerged early on in Brittany and Jax’s relationship. But they refused to break things off. Instead, they said “I do” in June 2019 and welcomed a son, Cruz, in April 2021. 

That commitment to a dysfunctional relationship might be due to Brittany’s fixed sign nature, which made her exceptionally loyal and persistent in trying to hold her marriage together. Meanwhile, Jax’s cardinal Cancer energy naturally pushed to control the dynamic in their home, leading to a power struggle. Eventually, things reached a breaking point. As Jax’s substance abuse problems and anger issues worsened, Brittany filed for divorce in August 2024. She’s since admitted that her “picker’s off” but that she’s working on being more discerning about the men she gets involved with. 

“I’ve been talking with a narcissistic abuse coach,” Brittany said in part 1 of The Valley Season 3 reunion, which aired in early August. “I feel like that’s really gonna help me. But I see the best in everybody, and what sucks is, like, I don’t really wanna change that about myself. But I have to set bigger boundaries.”
