‘Ready to Love’ Heads to Chicago for New Season Premiering October 2
Is the Windy City ready for some relationship realness?
After more than 10 seasons, OWN’s hit dating series Ready to Love is taking its search for meaningful connections to Chicago. Premiering October 2, the new season will follow a vibrant group of successful Black singles in their 30s and 40s as they navigate the ups and downs of looking for love in America’s third-largest city.
‘Ready to Love’ heads to Chicago for new season
“It’s time for the heartland,” host, comedian, and relationship expert Thomas “Nephew Tommy” Miles says in the trailer. “Buckle up. We’re in the Windy City baby. Chi-Town.”
Ready to Love: Chicago will unfold against the backdrop of one of the country’s most culturally rich cities as it follows a group of entrepreneurs, executives, attorneys, creatives, and community leaders, who are all hoping to find a lasting connection with the right person. And for the first time ever, there will be a sibling duo who are searching for love at the same time.
“Throughout the season, Tommy encourages the singles to look beyond first impressions and focus on the qualities that create strong, lasting partnerships,” OWN teased. “Through candid conversations about compatibility, communication, family, values, and future goals, the hopeful romantics must decide whether they’re truly ready to take a chance on love.”
“This entire process is designed to make you think differently, act differently, and love differently,” Miles says.
Will these Windy City singles find love?
These Chicagoans say they are up for the challenge of rethinking their approach to relationships.
“At this age, we’re not getting into relationships with people we don’t think we would marry,” one man says to his date in the trailer.
But this journey isn’t without its bumps, as the singles confront lies, insecurity, and people who may be bringing too much baggage on this trip.
“The ladies met,” a woman tells one of her male castmates. “They described you as rude to them.”
“What else is going on that I don’t know?” another man asks.
“He’s just a man with his own issues that hurts,” one woman tearfully says.
Yet there’s also the possibility for real romance and lasting connection.
“Can I see this woman being the mother of my kids?” a man asks. “I think you fit the bill.”
