Lauren Sánchez’s wedding to Jeff Bezos was dubbed the “event of the year.”

The festivities for the affair took place over three days in June in Venice, Italy, and boasted a celebrity guest list that read like a who’s who in Hollywood and showbiz. Some of those high-profile guests included: Leonardo DiCaprio, Orlando Bloom, Jessica Alba, Sydney Sweeney, Kim KardashianKris JennerKylie JennerKendall Jenner, Ellie Goulding, Tom Brady, Usher and Jenn Goicoechea, Bill Gates, Tommy Hilfiger, and Oprah Winfrey.

However, one of Lauren’s brothers was noticeably absent. So what caused him to miss his sister’s big day? Well, turns out he wasn’t invited. Yep, there’s bad blood and the problem isn’t just with Lauren and her sibling; it involves Bezos as well.

Lauren is close with two of her siblings

Lauren has one sister, Elena, and two brothers, Paul and Michael.

She is very close to Elena and Paul, and both attended her wedding to the Amazon founder.

Paul tries to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible. A few months before the wedding though he did share his excitement for Lauren with TMZ, saying: “[It will be] like a Princess Di thing, just huge and fun, and just a blast. I’m thrilled beyond belief. It’s gonna be an amazing event.”

Meanwhile, Elena and Lauren’s bond was made clear when the former posted a touching birthday tribute to her sister on Instagram that read in part: “My sister and I are so close that our relationship is sometimes hard for others to understand. It’s hard to describe … We have a conflict-free relationship … We support and care for each other unconditionally. She sees me and understands me like nobody else … I am so lucky to be loved by her … You aren’t just my sister you are my soul mate and my best friend. I love you more than any words could ever express.”

Why her brother, Michael, was not invited to her wedding

While Elena and Paul were on hand to see their sister marry Bezos, Michael was not there and that’s because he wasn’t welcome at the wedding.

Lauren introduced Michael and Bezos back in 2018, and after that meeting, Michael said he realized his little sister was not having a casual fling with Bezos and their romance was serious.

Then, in 2019, news of their affair hit the internet and every other media outlet thanks to the National Enquirer, which published NSFW text messages between the two while they were married to other people.

Many people assumed Michael was the source of that leak, especially after he told Vanity Fair, “I’m not saying I didn’t do something,” before adding, “What I can tell you now is that ever since April 20, when I met Jeff, my only goal has been to protect Jeff and Lauren.”

However, Michael then decided to sue Bezos personally for defamation, claiming he was falsely accused of informing the media about explicit exchanges with Lauren.

In response to her older brother’s lawsuit against her partner, Lauren said: “He secretly provided my most personal information to The National Enquirer — a deep and unforgivable betrayal. My family is hurting over this new baseless and untrue lawsuit, and we truly hope my brother finds peace.”

Michael eventually lost the suit and was ordered to pay $218,000 of Bezos’ $1.7 million legal fees.

So yeah, it’s no surprise that Michael didn’t get an invite to the “wedding of the year.”
